In any reasonable contest, yes DLH would have obliterated any MMA fighters in a boxing match. Let's however remember, DLH was shot when he retired 13 years ago. He has been drunk and cooked out of his mind almost ever day since. He is now 48 and I'm sure his motor function is fucked. Would he still beat a lot of MMA fighters in a relatively short boxing match? Yea possibly. That's why GSP would want to do this. It is an interesting kind of challenge that probably doesn't lead to taking too much damage and would allow him to compete in a way that avoids the madness that comes from being an active fighter.

DLH won his first world title at 130 but eventually fought Bernard Hopkins for the title at 160 losing by stoppage.

I agree that it’s a winnable fight for GSP given that De La Hoya would likely be a bloated shell of a shadow of his prime self.

De la Hoya would have destroyed any UFC fighter lighter than LHW in the ring, including GSP, Anderson, Nick Diaz, and anyone else MMA fans think is a good striker. And would have won on points against any LHW and HW. This is as obvious as pointing out that Michael Phelps would have outswam any triathlete champion (a combo of swimming, running and cycling) over any distance. Specialists are better at their specialty than generalists are in any one of their sub-disciplines.

Its just that triathlete fans are smart enough to know that their champs can't beat specialist swimmers, runners and cyclists in their specialty, MMA fans think their champs can beat anyone in any combat sport discipline (for instance, that GSP could win Olympic medals in wrestling, that Anderson could win boxing world championships and so on).

GSP was only granted the Bisping fight on the basis that he would defend if he won.

He then immediately backpeddled after winning the fight and made up a fake illness. He then tried to poach another title fight at LW afterwards.

Oscar is mad and blasts Dana White on Social media, he revealed that he was in talks with George St Pierre as his boxing opponent on Triller but Dana White blocked it because GSP is still under contract with UFC. If this is true its foul on Dana White, GSP is retired from MMA, let the man make a huge massive payday with Oscar.

It makes sense why GSP was training at Wild Card boxing club with Roach for the last couple weeks.

because Anderson was let go of his contract, Ben Askren was still under contract but UFC allowed him to fihgt Jake Paul, Rich Franklin who retired many years ago if he ever wanted to fight again must fight under UFC he has one fight left on the contract, UFC contracts are very binding they dont play around I think GSP still has a fight on his contract as well im not sure he just retired. Meisha Tate as well she had to fight in UFC even though she works for One Fc cause of her contract.
