Basically the same issue Rousey had. She was only relevant as long as she kept winning. Colby is in the same boat.

He gets trounced badly, he fades into obscurity.

The UFC probably considers him a PR nightmare but as long as he stays in the win circle its worth it.

Ronda could come back today and still be relvant. She could lose 10 times in a row and still sell more PPV's then most.

There is a difference between being famous/a draw and actually being relevant in MMA.

Nah. Here entire gimmick was an unstoppable force that was steamrolling everyone. Without that she's nothing.

She's not particularly charismatic and once her novelty wears off in WWE, we'll see her fade there too
 
Pretty much. You gotta respect a fighter willing to put himself in that position.

She still would likely be in the top 5 of her division.

I agree that her whole gimmick was based on being unstoppable. It ended with her two losses but she is still relevant regardless ... just less relevant.

Pretty much. RDA gonna put a much needed end to this hype train. Colby's no Conor.
 
i think back to him getting submitted by warley alves, thus diminishing all schtick right away
 
Like if the said famous person/draw is competing then it is relevant. Nate Conor would be relevant even though it's a fight that's happened twice and doesn't need to happen again. They'd still be relevant.

I disagree. Rousey literally has nothing left going for her, her movies were cancelled, she got embarrassed and beaten badly twice in the UFC. She came off as a huge bitch during her title reign and paid for it.

She is currently pretending to be a fighter in a kids entertainment show.

Who exactly is going to pay to see her lose again? It's not like they can put her up against a scrub at this point. She would have to fight someone relevant in order for there to be any PPV interest.

I say have her come back at 145 and finally fight Cyborg.... :)
 
For me, it's more about him getting his ass whooped by a Brazilian. That is the real stinger.
 
Ok so I say this to people that don't watch mma a lot. I say I love Ronda, Conor etc because otherwise our sport would hardly get recognized. When Ronda was on a tear, I could literally talk to women over 35 and they knew exactly who Ronda was. It becomes such an event with her. Yes she loses luster as she loses. But even with Holly and Nunes. If Ronda came back she would be relevant and people would care about the fight she is in.

Just cuz she's up to nonsense now doesn't erase the memories of her invincibility a few years ago. And no other woman other than Cyborg captures that same feeling for me.
 
I certainly would have rather paid to see Ronda lose this last Saturday than to have paid for that PPV with Nunes and Pennington. Not that it was a bad card. Just sayin

His whole shtick is taking Ls so I think if he looses, he's still in character.

If he REALLY wants to up his shtick to the next level, he should have his team come in the cage and call 9-11 if he loses and claim he was assaulted. That would be EPIC and he MIGHT even make a fan out of me if he did that!

Or bring in some hookers and hover his hands over them like a fucking faith healer. Lots of ways he can spin a loss....
