What the F is you?

It's surprising how many people that post here are not MMA fans or practice MAs
You;d be even more surprised at the War Room

ppl who go to a MMA forum, to discuss politics and get into rage wars, yet don't practice, or aren't even fans of MMA or combat sports

Some good shit here honestly, I don't usually browse this section.

Yet, so many names that don't ring any bells. So, are you guys all former MMA fans? Current MMA fans who don't talk about mma? Or did you sign up to Sherdog to talk about general shit in the first place?

Im still a fan. Watched Jones last fight. Bad decision imo. Makes it hard to get people you’re hanging with to watch it again

I was a fan until cards started looking like

Corey Anderson vs. Illir Latifi (main)
Liz Carmouche vs. Lauren Murphy (co-main)
Juan Carlos Ferreria III vs. Ron Smith
Juventud De La Cruz vs. Cobnab Dvashtilskili
etc etc

Woman’s MMA hasn’t helped imo.. once you get past the novelty of watching some ass cheeks jiggle it’s all pretty much downhill from there for them. It’s like being forced to watch the WNBA before you can watch the NBA finals or something.

I still keep up with some of the MMA stuff. I don't really watch many, if any, events anymore though and don't even know a lot of the athletes names. I basically just read the summaries and reports and watch a few fights online if I get the time. I don't have 3-6 hours to sit and watch MMA, especially when I don't really care or know a lot of the fighters anymore.

I haven't caught an event in a few years.

I'm a huge MMA fan. Unfortunately just cancelled ESPN+ due to a shitty cost benefit analysis. With the escalting cost of PPV, just don't watch as much as I used to. I "may" fly the Jolly Roger for big fights and replays though.

Bingo. When it felt like I was watching the real life version of a fight/kumite movie, it was great. Nowadays, it seems like EVERYONE is a wresltleboxer. I miss specialist and fighters with unique skills.
Yup. The last fight I enjoyed watching was the Maia Askren fight.

Still an MMA fan, but obviously it's not like it use to be. Although it seems like fighters pulling out has slowed down, cards are being watered down quite a bit. We need a new wave of contenders soon.

Most of the guys who post in OT are MMA fans who have reached a baseline of knowledge that makes posting in the Heavies difficult. You reach a point where you can't tolerate the ignorance and nutriding. It's for noobs.

Only a special few posters who really know their shit last the ages in there.
So you're saying I'm not special anymore... :(

:p

I still watch every UFC event but I can only read so many stupid threads about the same handful of fighters before I stop giving a shit. The shoop threads are pretty killer tho.

I think there are too many cards now . Hard to follow . It was much easier to get excited for fights when they were once a month with 3-4 big fights on the card then weekly cards with maybe one person I have heard of ... that’s just me being a causal now too though, I’m sure more cards are great for people who absolutely are die hard and just like watching no matter who is fighting

The heavies is a sespool and I've avoided it since I started this account.

I do still watch, train, and compete(rarely) in MMA/BJJ/Judo

Plus posters in the heavies are down right insulting to a lot of fighters which is why basically none post here anymore ... even Roxy who is nice to everyone doesn’t come back anymore . I go in, read some of the comments and quickly dip out .

I agree. Too many cards with no names, although I don't follow the sport like I use to so probably don't know much about the fighters these days.

I'm still a fan but I only watch a handful of fights per card or skip some cards as opposed to watching every single fight on every single card like I used to.

What would it take, at this point, for it to be watchable again?

Trim the roster. The UFC is bloated and spread far too thin. A bloated roster also gives me a constant case of "who the fuck is this guy?" I don't know 90% of the roster anymore because they've got far too many fighters and they're constantly signing relatively unknown fighters to pad out their weak cards. The UFC puts the brand above the fighters so it has become a weaker product. They've always been bad about promoting fighters who aren't their golden child and I don't know how they haven't figured that out yet. They've let far too much mid-card, potential headlining, or top talent go because they're too cheap (Bader, Mousasi, Mighty Mouse, Rory, etc).

Also, it seems like the top fighters and champs fight maybe once or twice a year now. I'm also tired of constant rematches for the belt. You lose, you should have to work your way back up a few fights instead of getting an immediate rematch, outside of an extremely close decision or draw.

How are most Heavyweight fighters so fucking fat and out of shape still in 2020? What a horrendous division. Outside of Stipe, Ngannou and....that's it. I don't give a shit about HW these days and it used to be exciting because you knew someone was going to sleep.

Rankings don't mean shit either. Just get rid of them or actually stick to them.

I visit Mayberry every day, but I'm still a die-hard mma fan. This weekend, I'll watch all 13 UFC fights, maybe 10 Bellator fights (2 cards), and a boxing match.

Yep. Very few WMMA fighters have ever captivated the fans. MMA struck gold with Rousey because she put on a show and never had a single fight go to decision in all of her fights. Outside of her and a couple others here and there, you can pretty much just do a 3x fast forward through any WMMA fight and you'll just see them circle each other over and over without any damage being inflicted.

WMMA is like making us watch Fitch fight 3 times per card.

I've only been a casual combat sports fan since I was around ten. My uncle used to follow Tyson and oscar de loya around the mid nineties. I still remember when Tyson returned to fight frank bruno and when he
Bit holyfield's ear off.i started watching strikeforce around 2010 . I remember Jake shields defeated jason miller.I also remember Tim Kennedy facing Luke rockhold and Nick Diaz fighting Kj noons.
Nowadays , I mostly watch glory kickboxing on Pluto tv.I'm usually in the mayberry because I enjoy the humor and I have alot ot varied interest

i'm into mma as much as i've always been. i only post in this forum, and the ufc heayweight forum.
