I couldn't find anything on the topic by way of the Search, so I thought I'd try a new thread.

What is your take on sleep? How much do you get--and how much do you think you should be getting? This is directed mostly for guys who train (not necessarily professionally, but definitely seriously).

I've heard/read/seen everything from guys like Trigg saying that "sleep is overrated" to NBA players who seem to sleep all the time when they are not training or playing. It also seems like half the MMA fighters are sleeping/napping when guys like Ryan Bennett call them up for interviews over at mmaweekly radio ...

One researcher said that people should be getting closer to nine hours of sleep a day?! I can't remember the last time I got that many winks. What do you think? How important is sleep in your training schedule/process?
