Skill wise, Is Emmett’s ceiling Prime Mendes?

Similar styles. Mendes has better wrestling but Emmett can crack harder.


The only difference is Emmett is fighting in a wide open division so he has a decent chance of being champ.

Prime Mendes is better than apex Emmett.

I think people sleep on how good Chad was simply cuz Aldo was around and was the Alpha during that span. He was a monster.

But yeah, I don't think Josh will be as good as Chad but he hits harder for sure.

Mendes was legitimately one of the best athletes we've ever seen at featherweight. Emmett is a good athlete, Mendes was gifted.

Skill wise, I'd also have a hard time seeing Mendes get murder killed by Stephens. He was a better wrestler and more versatile.

Josh hits really hard and is willing to spam big shots. His ceiling may be right around what we just saw - a controversial decision with a guy like Burgos. Good, but not top of the food chain.

It'll be interesting to see how Emmett does in his next few fights against top ranked opponents.

I don't think Emmett at his best will be as good as Mendes who had much more of a double threat than Emmett ever will, and I don't think Emmett's offense will ever be as efficient as that of Mendes.

He was great but not sure about beating EVERY fw.
Holloway and Volk are tough matchups for him style wise (thought he beat Aldo in the rematch, but it was close)

Josh has the ability to beat anyone just because of the KO power but I don't see him being a more skilled fighter than anyone ranked above him.

I think that is largely how I feel.

Legit punchers chance when you have power and are willing to spam it. Nobody should be surprised if he flat lines a highly ranked opponent. I would definitely be surprised if he could consistently beat top 10 opponents though.

I'm pretty sure that is his peak, but he has earned a chance to take a step forward and prove otherwise. I just can't see him landing his shots on the guys ahead of him.

You right. He just recently started getting his name out, just waited on his old man strength to kick in and saved his chin. Tough SOB. Remember when he fought Tuck with his bones sticking out the 3rd round.

yeah like Shane is solid don't get me wrong, but I think Kattar/Zabit would mop him and the top guys like Max/Volk would make him look like a scrub, unless he lands one on the chin sending them to the next dimension.
