These are people with serious mental illnesses and the sad part is that instead of encouraging them to get treatment for their illness, society has decided they're normal and anyone that tries to point out their body dysphoria are intolerant bigots. It's why their suicide rates are so high...pre and post op.

I didn’t mean we should outlaw people with mental illness. Obviously we can’t do that. But the surgery should be illegal, and it should simply be treated as an extreme form of body dysmorphia, or possibly shizophrenia. People who attempt to “live as the opposite sex” must be shut out from certain roles and responsibilities, just as other seriously mentally ill people are (for example, we don’t let schizophrenic people teach pre-school, because it’s dangerous to kids). The treatment should involve helping them to understand that men cannot be women and vice versa. The bottom line is we should not entertain the delusions of delusional people; we must help them recognize reality.

So it looks like we agree on quite a bit.
