I'm currently training at Sitjaopho. I captured some great footage of the twins clinching this afternoon.

OMG WTF was that @ 3'23 ? LOL. Never seen that.

4'37 was beautiful.

Man I just wish that people would clinch like that in Europe. Relaxed, technical and playful. Not sure what's wrong with westerners but we don't seem to be genetically able to stay relaxed and playful during any type of sparring.

Awesome vid, txs.

Blame the military industrial complex for conditioning us to always go hard. Or maybe it's that Westerners lack the humility to train in a relaxed and playful manner.

And yeah...those two parts you pointed out were nice.

I love clinching, but I can get quite hard putting a lot of pressure on my partner, but half the time I don't actually notice I'm doing. I think it's that blend of needing force to correctly apply the technique (not necessarily as in muscling it, but putting that bit of muscle in that you need) but also keeping light that can be difficult.

I don't know about the military industrial complex....

I mean Americans, Germans, Dutch, Canadians and French all have very different military cultures.

Yet when we spar we all seem to be wired the same : we don't want to "loose".

Maybe it's a philosophy thing, i.e. the state of mind is simply not the same ? Like for example that allowing the opponent to mop the floor with you for a moment is a good thing "for the sake of sparring " therefore it makes sense to do it ?

I don't know. Maybe there is some confucianism tossed in there, I don't know about asian cultures. I would be interested in understanding what it is that those Thais are doing so much better than us.

Looks like blue went for a jumping knee, and orange pushed him off (hand on rib)

Depends on the gym. I'm not from Europe, but its a big place, pretty sure there are some gyms that follow Thai style sparring (30-50% power, more frequent)

i love watching the twins...they have beautiful technique
