SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR Thread

Sin City was one of those rare movies where I felt like I was watching real violence and got a disturbing rush from it... it felt very primal to hear Marv's reasoning for inflicting pain and judgement on those who deserved it. Ahem.

I rarely get excited about upcoming movies anymore but this one has me very interested... picked up the original special edition bluray last week for $10 and hadn't watched it in a long time. my god, I forgot how amazing it is (also helps that I have an incredible HT system that I didn't back when I watched it last :))

Eva Green to Play the Lead Ava in SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

Press Release: After much anticipation, Dimension Films announced today that SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller have chosen Eva Green (DARK SHADOWS, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE, CASINO ROYALE) to star as the film’s deadly muse, Ava Lord. Ava, the iconic character from Miller’s graphic novel of the same name, is described by Miller as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares.”

Rodriguez and Miller said, “We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”

Eva Green joining the film rounds out the huge, all-star cast that Rodriguez and Miller have been assembling over the past few months. That cast includes original cast members Academy Award

Meh, she hot and all. But I'd rather have seen someone else.

Does this Ava character have any, uh, nude scenes in the books?

My memory is very vague on this but I believe that Ava might have some nude/sex scenes in the comics. But I'm not 100% sure.

Stacy Keach has signed to portray a main villain in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, co-directed by Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller from Miller's screenplay. Keach will play mob boss Wallenquist, described by Miller as "the one man who can't be redeemed in Sin City. He is pure evil." Production is under way at Rodriguez's Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For weaves together two of Miller

If they're going off of the original stories, then Meloni and Piven are a cop duo.

I'm getting more excited for this movie by the day. Initially, a sequel wasn't even appealing to me, but now with this cast, I can't wait!

I have no hope for this film.

Why not? The story is fantastic, and will essentially be the script. The first film was great, I don't see why this one wouldn't be. And it will also have just one storyline instead of several, which may help too.

I'll be happy if it is about as good as Sin City.
Is Josh Hartnett going to reprise his role in this?

Maybe. He plays the Colonel, which is a character I would have preferred Meloni play, but I have a feeling he's going to be Damien Lord.

I am glad you asked, Bobby, but I don't want to ruin the fun here.

I will, however, tell Hellboy that SIN CITY is considered by me to be REQUIRED READING, and that he should indulge himself by order of publication, skipping the story inspired by Hartnett, which appeared in the San Diego Comicon limited edition comic book featuring the Legend boys (but maybe he should get that, is it is the bonafide first appearance of his namesake). That is:

THE HARD GOODBYE
A DAME TO KILL FOR
THE BIG FAT KILL

It gets a little catty wampus after that, but those three? ARE GOLD. DAME has the best art.

I thought Hartnett was 'The Salesman'?
Is that the same character?

Also, TGF, aren't those three stories the 'core' of the first Sin City, well, except ADTKF.

Well, you are educated, sir. I have the original series, A Dame To Kill For, and That Yellow Bastard. Great stuff.
