i was just thimking of doing a simple 3 day a week workout, doing the 3 main power exercises, squat, deadlift and squat.is this too much to be doing or can it work?

thats all you really need

bench day + assistant ex

squat day + assistant

If you mean doing all three on one workout, then I feel really sorry for your cns, that will burn you out in a few weeks if you lift heavy. As already suggested you will get much better results by splitting your workout so that you do one of the three on each workout and add some assisstance work plus grip and abs.

Well if you do it correctly, supposidly it works. The 3x3 program is built like that. However, you are right about the lifting heavy thing. Even that program takes that into account.

the guy also has a MA background, bothered to check his profile, you stick all three into a workout and also do some training a couple of times a week you'll destroy yourself at a rate of knots. I've tried a lot of really stupid workout programs before I was saved by sherdog and know what it feels like to overtrain weights and still try and do MT three times a week, not good.

yesterday i maxed out on bench squat and deads as my whole workout. by maxed out i mean i did 3 reps with a comfortable weight, then i added more weight and did 3 reps and so on. i don't think any average joe can do it but if you can more power to you. i like the idea of working out the big muscle groups all at once, once in a while, make for some extra testosterone release or growth hormone or something. im gonna see if i can keep doing this for a week or two to see if i can get used to the heavier loads. im already eating a lot and drinking protein so hopefully my body can keep up with the workout for a while. then ill switch to 1 muscle group at a time and isolation stuff for 20 reps/set or so.

Yeah, Urban got me into him, too. I like how Urban checked into the "5x5" thread to see John posted, throw some high fives all around, and check the fuck out.

few days later i just realized that working out this hard can take a toll on your immune system. i often have a sore throat the day after or a few days after some high intensity lifting for a few days in a row
