Andy offered to fight at a catchweight of 175 or 180, but GSP was having none of it
Doesn’t change the fact Andy was afraid to fight GSP at his weight class. Bigger fighter calls out smaller fighter it’s his obligation to go to that weight class. If GSP called out Andy it would be his responsibility to go to 185. Andy wanted, and thought he needed the size advantage.

For some reason gsp is the duck even though Silva called out the smaller fighter. Something gsp never did. Andy went up for specific fights at lhw but never wanted to fight jones or shogun there.

More like he didn't want to go through an awful weight cut that might have affected his performance. The fact is, Silva offered a fair catchweight and GSP denied it. That puts it all into perspective right there, son.

But he’d fought at 170 before. GSP had never fought at 185. And it took him 4 years after his last 170 fight to do so. Andy was more than willing to drop to 170 years later to fight McGregor. Generally it’s harder to cut weight as you get older. So why was he willing to go to 170 years later but not take the easier cut at the time against GSP? He wasn’t confident in his chances and he wanted an advantage.

Well, you're half right. He didn't want to risk anything against GSP, he wanted to be in the best (not necessarily the biggest) shape possible. He probably saw McGregor as easy work and the $$$$$ he'd make from that would make it worth it as well

I don’t believe either man wanted to give the other an advantage. 2 of the greatest going head to head. Who would?

Yeah each fanbase blames the other fighter, but the truth is both guys knew there was a lot to lose and refused to budge. Essentially making the fight impossible.

Silva fans are super dishonest about this tbh. Silva would bring up 170 or cws to get people talking about the fight again, and then quickly change back to 185. Trying to goad gsp into just coming up and fighting him there. And gsp was too smart for that shit. Both guys were calculating and wanted to protect their legacies. And that's ok.

But Silva fans act like he was brave for calling out gsp to come fight at middleweight, where Silva would have every advantage. That is not brave.

but he did stall to a decision, he specifically chose it over finishing

and I wasn't conceding you're right, I was trying to understand you lol

He didn't stall, he was active the whole fight and came close to the finish multiple times.

You don't have to concede, you're statement was clearly wrong

Ping beat Anderoid

GSP finished Ping.

Lol at Anderoid losing to a guy GSP cherry picked

Lol. Old man Silva was 40. Prime Silva made prime Dan Henderson look like an amateur, the same Hendo that nearly killed Bisping. Prime Silva would’ve beat GSP & Bisping back to back on the same night. Sonnen and Henderson are both bigger wrestlers than GSP, the height and reach advantage would make it a very easy night for Anderson. He would’ve murdered GSP.

Lol. Prime Anderoid got starched by Chris Weidman back to back.

Old man GSP with 2 ACL injuries and being a WW best Bisping while roided Anderoid who has fought at LHW before couldn’t

Anderson lost to Weidman at age 38. GSP retired at age 32. 1 cherry picked fight since and retired again at age 36. #Hendricks #Scared #RanAway #SilvaGOAT

About this who is ducking who contest, neither GSP wanted to beef up to MW nor Silva to slim down to WW.
Still, rest noted that Silva was up for a catch weight, and it's usually the expectation from the lighter one to move up.
On the other hand, even though he had some fights at LHW Silva wanted no business with Jones, who wants no part in HW.

The only ballsy move on that was Silva stepping up a fortnight after surgery to face DC, no way to get around it.

Moral lesson: They're all a bunch of chicken.

GSP has a longer reach and better wrestling than Sonnen. The same Sonnen who dominated Silva for 23 minutes until the Hail Mary sub. But credit to Silva for getting it.

Valid points. IIRC before the first Sonnen fight Silva contemplated moving up to fight for the LHW tittle, but was close friends with Machida. He still moved up and tested himself against Forrest who had recent wins over Shogun and Rampage. Jones’ rise to greatness correlated with Silva’s decline and did not gain the momentum needed to create a superfight whereas Silva vs GSP had incredible buzz at the time.

Sonnen’s 6”1 compared to GSP’s 5”10, the height difference is significant in comparison to a slightly longer reach. Sonnen is definitely the bigger fighter, but agreed that GSP is the better wrestler. Size matters, especially for a precision striker, to be able to gauge distance and catch smaller fighters trying to close the gap makes connecting much easier.

Intellidamus is such a pathetic waste of time, bro.

P4P worst and most delusional poster of all time.

He literally just said that Anderson Silva was scared to cut to 170 .... that says enough, doesn't it?

greasep refuses any fight that challenges him

he was terrified of fighting hendricks again

Regarding Anderson's "reach advantage" that is brought up here frequently...
Anderson Silva's reach is 197cm/77.5"
Georges St-Pierre's is 193cm/76"

That's the width of a finger that Silva is longer than GSP on each hand..
