Silva vs Diaz : best outcome for UFC?

Nick would need to beat a middleweight and then fight a welterweight contender to get a shot, but Anderson gets to fight for the belt against the guy who beat his ass twice just because he beats a welterweight?

Major difference between these 2 cases.

Nick never held the WW belt.
AS held the MW belt for a looong time, losing only to the current champ.

If Lawler wins the rematch/or hendricks pulls out...Then Diaz would haven beaten the active champ (something Silva, has failed at miserably in his last two outings, + he'll be 40 years old).... That alone means Diaz has a better argument.... + PPV #'s would be great, and it would be an amazing fight to watch (the fights with Silva/Weidman so far have been pretty one-sided).

And Diaz has held the Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and WEC Welterweight Championship... (and would also have been a Pride champion, if he was a coke head /instead of Marijuana user..)...not to shabby.

a 5 round battle where diaz demolished silva would obviously be the best outcome

Straight domination by Silva. Shows the doubters he isn't washed up, sets up Silva/Weidman 3 or Silva/Belfort 2(win win situation either way) plus doesn't really tarnish Diaz at all seeing he got dominated by a bigger fighter who's arguably the best mma fighter who ever did it.

For the UFC: a knock down, drag out, bloody brawl won by either man.

For Anderson: a KO or sub win

For Diaz: a win

Best result for the business is Anderson by KTFO. Anything that puts the shine back on him and sets him up for future big fights (possibly even Weidman III) is good for the business.

Nick is never going to draw like Silva did at his peak, so the benefits of him winning are thin.

Best Outcome: Diaz Wins, gets welterweight title fight, wins title, GSP comes out of retirement, fights Diaz and beats him, Diaz earns another title shot, beats GSP for title, GSP wins rubber match, rides off into the sunset. Meanwhile Anderson grinds his way to a title shot at middleweight, beats Weidman for title, gets super fight with Jon Jones, defeats Jon Jones and then retires.

thats too much weed

probably anderson steamrolls diaz (which should happen)

ppl are not realizing that diaz is a sacrificial lamb?

if somehow diaz wins, you really think ufc wants to go through his antics all over again?

Best possible outcome is the fight gets cancelled because Diaz doesn't show up. This is for a fucking title shot.

please no. Weidman has other work to do.

Diaz beating Anderson
Diaz vs Lawler 2 for the WW belt.

I don't know why you think that. Diaz will keep it competitive if Anderson doesn't clown. The only way I see Anderson catching Nick is with a foot to the dome.

If it gets to the ground, which Diaz SHOULD do early (but he'll love to box with Silva), then Diaz has a decent chance at getting points or locking a sub.

Anderson should keep Diaz in the clinch all fight until a knee smashes something. Then box a weak and vulnerable Diaz who will box with emotion.

a silva KO. goes without saying really.

Nick has beaten the current welterweight champion, and Anderson has gotten his ass beat twice by the current middleweight champion.

Your move, champ.

Diaz throwing a monstrous overhand right in the first 10 seconds that catches Silva perfectly flush, crumpling him to the canvas is what can only be described as a sickeningly brutal KO.

A Anderson win so they can set-up a 3rd fight with Weidman (assuming he wins his fight.)

Who cares who sells ppvs and is "best" for the UFC? youre not vince russo . Youre just fans. Worry about whether the fights are good, not buyrates and all this shit you know nothing about.

Diaz wins it decisively then they'd be dumb not to give him a title fight vs Lawler.
