He could have easily have fought at LHW when many were asking him to instead of fighting the likes of Okami, Leites, Maia and a few other gatekeepers. Face it Silva only fought Daniel cause it was his best option. He lost 2 out of his 3 last fights before losing to Daniel and he also got a No Contest against Nick Diaz instead of a win. So face it, Silva didnt take the Daniel fight to challenge himself, he took it cause he was on the bottom of the pecking order at MW. he also had popped for that Diaz fight.

Silva fought at LHW 3 times during his prime and KOed all of them in the first round. Go actually watch MMA

GSP fought pretty much nothing but top competition once he became champion, and has arguably the best strength of schedule in MMA history. Or if not, fairly close.

What the Penns and apparently Andersons of the world don't understand is that it's easy to "challenge" yourself if you mentally give yourself credit simply for trying and not winning.

It's no credit to self-handicap. It's just a mental out to give yourself to protect your ego in case you lose, while retaining all the glory if you beat the odds and win.

Bisping was only the champ because he defended against Hendo and not an actual contender, the only reason.

And looking at Bisping's previous fight, there's absolutely no arguement that he was a bigger challenge than Forrest. Getting your ass kicked by #13 Hendo and winning a hometown decision is not impressive.
