Hi, my name is gorgonon and I'm really looking forward to TUF 23!

I wanna share this enthusiasm and energy with all my sherdog peoples and maybe make friends and making fun alongside with the Straweight Champion, Joanna J. and her bitter Brazillian rival, Cláudia Gadelha, or as I like to call her, Claudia 'Ghadela'. Seriously, I mispell it every time; I'm thinking of making that her nickname or something.

So, this game I'm proposing here, it's kind of an adventure, a celebration if you will, of the predictability of typical themes and common conventions prevalent in Reality TV in general, and The Ultimate Fighter in particular.

Fx0UFdg.gif

It's fun and laid back, and we'll constantly be poking fun of what goes on while trying to viciously win the Championship Trophy and Prizes Galore in store for us! It's more of a conversation, though, amongst friends of old and new, just appreciating the Strawweight Stuff and mildy acknowledging the existence of the 205ers along the way.

I made/requisitioned/repurposed a trusty banner for what we're doing here, and here it is:

Qt6vlEJ.jpg

The actual show starts a month from now, so in addition to signing up competitors, I'll use this sign up thread to flesh out the ruleset and prizes (hopefully gift cards or sherdog memberships or something) and ultimately hopefully explain what I want to do and get help from you guys to make this the best version and volume of whatever it is I'm doing here.

I do need help in how to make gifs, and the process of capturing them, I'm trying to learn how in a breakneck speed. It helps with the elongated Review Process for each show, providing Evidential Proofs to the Trivia Questions.

When I learn how to make gifs, I'll be all like:

Nqs8UPL.gif

The Great Gifmaker, Asurah, made that for me in the Official Women's Division Discussion Thread. He's like a hero of making Gifs, but Lethal, a legend of vbookie days, is also an awesome gifmaker, because he made my avatar gif-like. I'd just like to learn how to do this so I can one day make someone else's day like they did for me, or even just make good content for the Game and Sherdog in general. Once I get a system in place, it'll all be smooth by the time the show starts!

To show you where we've been and what likely or possible format this Game can take, here are some examples of competitions we've done before that I've culled from the ashes of the perplexing hurricane that mixed everything up like a nice and proper margarita a few months ago:

This is The TUF20 Trivia Game 2.0, the last time I did it for the inaugural Strawweight TUF a few years ago:
http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/tuf20-trivia-game-2-0.2869583/

This is the predecessor to the TUF20 Game, basically the 1.0 version, called The TUF20 Alt.Reality Game:

http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/tuf20-alt-reality-game.2823951/

And this is a different Game involving a unique scoring system and loan/banking infastructure that should warrant consideration. The Year-Long Worldwide Official Women's MMA Discussion Thread Championship Series!!

http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/t...ionship-series-stage-i-deep-jewels-7.2934505/

And here are the rest of them, hidden from the general populace, of course, for brevity:

But basically, what the format may be is that we'd guess the method, round and who'd win the fights that week, as well as trying to prognosticate what'll happen in the house, and if any patterns emerge, we'll tactically try to anticipate them in a fly-on-the-wall aka Where's-Waldo kinda way.

The Trivia portion is either True/False or multiple choice, so it's no big deal. Stuff like: Will JJ mention/gesture towards her sneakers in the first episode? Will Claudia utter the term "OSSS" at any time in the gym? How many 205ers will mention size when talking about/to the Straws? A) Only 1, B) A couple C) 3-5 of 'em D) Six or more Dammit!! That's More than Half of em!! Stuff like that.

To sign up, just post here, hopefully with a friendly gif. Love that stuff! Also, if you can, throw out some trivia questions you think we can anticipate in a multiple choice, T/F kinda way that I can work into the first episode!

fmXSgNS.gif

Everyone is welcome, but please be kind. I may not be that good at this at times, we all make mistakes, but I will always try my best to make this awesome and remember it's all for fun (and giftcards, maybe).

What was found to be the case during TUF 20 was that some of that sort of info was revealed via spoilers.

Glad to have you on board, battery! Should be a sweet season, too, we'll get to really know what makes The Champion tick. Also, can't lie, looking forward to some vicious broken-english trash talking, Polish style.

Is that something that Joanna signed for you? Nice one, battery! Did you get that at an event, like a signing or the fights? DID YOU GET TO MEET HER?!?!? Lucky dog!

What was found to be the case during TUF 20 was that some of that sort of info was revealed via spoilers.

This is of great concern and I've been thinking about it. I do remember now those times when either the editing of the show, or inference from social media spoiled some results, but from what I remember, it was just who won, not when and how. Maybe we should weight it, pointswise, accordingly, so who wins is the least?

Also, it wouldn't be a competition without you, Mark. It's good to have opponents that are sharp, yet fair, to keep you on your toes. Andr right off the bat we got two of 'em. Always welcome, friends.

Well, it seems like we've got a great start here! I'm gonna have a list of 23 Trivia Questions by next week that I want you guys to look at, and we'll brainstorm from there.

Perhaps a question can be done around the fact that Ashley Yoder has a twitter account name of Yoda_BaBay, and Joanna is frequently called "Jedi". Will anybody on the show make the connection?

Well battery, Mark Zima, it looks like it's just us 3! It will be quite a battle, for sure.

Here are the tentative Prize List:

1st Place: $23 eGift Card to an online entity (Amazon, X-Box, Playstation Network, Steam card, itunes, etc.) that I could get at K-Mart or Walgreens or some retail store and PM the code/details to you.

2nd Place: $10 League of Legends Gift Card code! Play League of Legends. It's free, it's online and it's FUN!!!

3rd Place: $10 League of Legends Gift Card code! Play League of Legends. It's free and stuff.

Just think -- if it stays just us 3, we're guaranteed a prize!!! Wahoo!!!!!!!:D

AT2UqbP.gif

Here is the format I'm thinking of for the first episode, 2 weeks from now:

List the Method: (16 pts each)

(we just found out the list of contestants that have a shot of getting into the house. Since spoilers might give us who made it or not, we're going to go with the lucky unicorn of which Strawweights will defy stereotype and not get a decision, but will finish their opponent!

Now, I know this won't happen, but let's do some positive visualization and go through all these fighters and put either KO or SUB next to their name. Now, 8 of these 16 are going to lose. So if they lose by KO or SUB, and you picked correctly, you'll get the points, too!;))

Strawweights

Alyssa Krahn
Amanda Cooper
Amy Montenegro
Ashley Cummins
Ashley Yoder
Chelsea Bailey
Helen Harper
Irene Rivera
Jamie Moyle
J.J. Aldrich
Jodie Esquibel
Kate Jackson
Kristi Lopez
Lanchana Green
Mellony Geugjes
Tatiana Suarez

Oh, yeah, then there's those pesky Light Heavyweights, why don't we just do the same for them... KO or SUB (16pts)

Light Heavyweights

Abdel Medjedoub
Andrew Sanchez
Cory Hendricks
Elias Urbina
Eric Spicely
Jamelle Jones
John Paul Elias
Josh Stansbury
Kenneth Bergh
Khalil Rountree
Marcel Fortuna
Muhammed DeReese
Myron Dennis
Norman Paraisy
Phil Hawes
Trevor Carlson

Who Picks First? (10 pts.)

(either they pick the first female fighter or the first female fighter chooses that Team)

A) Joanna
B) Claudia

--

That'll be the First Section, having to do with the fights and the picks.

My next post will be the Honorary Special Inaugural 23 Bonus Question Section. Usually, it'll be like 5 or 10 BQ's.

I expect the number of contestants will grow as we approach the start of the season.

Perhaps a question can be done around the fact that Ashley Yoder has a twitter account name of Yoda_BaBay, and Joanna is frequently called "Jedi". Will anybody on the show make the connection?

Love it, Mark! I think to make it a large target, if there is any mention of Star Wars, like for instance Jedis or Yoda, etc., or any definitive Star Wars paraphernalia (like maybe a Yoda plush doll on Ashley's bed, or her wearing a Yoda shirt). I'm sure Ashley'll mention something or at very least wear something?

So,

Bonus Question #1:
Will Joanna, known to her loving fans as Joanna Jedi, or anybody during the show (confesionals count!), mention anything of the Star Wars Universe, or will they show any definitive Star Wars paraphernalia (i.e.- posters, plush dolls, shirts, action figures, etc)?

Excellent Question, Mark!

And remember, there's the first teaser trailer tomorrow on Good Morning America, for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story! Very relevant and also a good honorary first question to give a nod to the saga that was
TYLWOWMMADTCS!!!

Another possibly amusing point to build a question around might be the fact that Joanna is often called JJ, but the show will have another fighter who will unavoidably be called JJ: JJ Aldrich. Will this matter of double JJs come up on the show? Maybe be a source of confusion or levity?

Nah, I don't think this is gonna be popular. But something I've learned doing these games, it's not about the quantity of contestants, but the quality. I'm just grateful having really good competitors like you and bats here. People of good nature and laid back, that won't get angry at me if I mess up, and have a great sense of humor about this stuff and don't take it too serious. If it were just us 3 I'd be more than ok with it.

It'd be perfectly alright!

Bonus Question #2: Will Joanna utter in her sultry Polish dialectic, the roll-off-the-tongue trebble of "JJ" on the show? She could be addressing the similarly consonanted JJ Aldritch, or maybe even start talking in the third person, like, "JJ will be showing you championship belt now. See it? JJ won this. You no win this. NO TOUCH!!!" Yes/No

EDIT:

Bonus Question #3: Will JJ Champion have JJ Aldritch on her team, making for interesting, possible sitcom-like misunderstandings and confusions? Yes/No

Bonus Question #4: (thanks to Askafan for the inspiration!)
Will Joanna mutter Kate Jackson's full name, "Kate Jackson", when talking about/to her, as a sign of begrudging respect and revulsion, much like a villain would, for instance, will she say, "Oh, so it is you, Kate Jackson, you are not going to be winning here, Kate Jackson, I want you to know this. You will pay for things you've done, ok?"

A similar technique was used by the alien forces of the iconic, landmark sci-fi flick, "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension" to address each other in comeradeship.

Here is an instance for reference:

In honor of the release of the full teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,

seen here for reference:

Here's some more BQ's!

Bonus Question #5:

Who will get the first word in between these bitter rivals? In the show, whose voice will we hear first beyond the opening credits?

A) Joanna
B) Claudia

Bonus Question #6:

Who will get the last word? That's almost as sweet, getting the last word in... we're counting confessionals, but not previews for next episodes.

A) Joanna
B) Claudia

Bonus Question #7:

What order will the fighters fight? Pick 3 SW fighters from the field of 16. You'll get points for the order of their fight appearance on the show.
part of 1st SW fight = 20pts,
2nd fight = 10pts.
3rd fight = 5pts.

Pick Three:

Alyssa Krahn
Amanda Cooper
Amy Montenegro
Ashley Cummins
Ashley Yoder
Chelsea Bailey
Helen Harper
Irene Rivera
Jamie Moyle
J.J. Aldrich
Jodie Esquibel
Kate Jackson
Kristi Lopez
Lanchana Green
Mellony Geugjes
Tatiana Suarez

Bonus Question #8:

On the same line, sometimes they save the best for last. Pick one fighter you think will be in the last female SW fight. (15 pts.)

Bonus Question #9:

Will we get one of the mainstay appearances of all TUFs, more reliable than Dana himself, the tried and true travel bus scene in this first episode? Will they show the fighters or a fighter being shuttled and shuffled around in their own musty quarters in that 12 Seat Caravan of Cram and Conflict and Daydreams and Destiny? So soon?? [picking them up from airport and travelling to TUF gym counts, as long as it's that large van they usually use. No Taxis or mini-vans!]

Yes, small encapsulated spaces is what makes TUF special
No, the bus is for winners, they gotta win to get in!

Bonus Question #10:

Trying to stay strong, the Ultimate Fighters can sometimes show some weakness. It's not a matter of if, but how many. So, how many fighters will openly shed a tear or make the cry face with voice breaking in this heartbreaking first elimination show? SW and LHW included.

A) None of 'em... F' you, gorgonon! they're all dry eyed and smiling :(
B) A single struggler
C) 2-3 fighters
D) 4-5 fighters
E) 6 or more will break down

Bonus Question #11:

Joanna makes her greatness known in many ways. Some are vocal, some are mere gestures. Will she in fact do her now famous "#1" gesture with her hand? It's her go-to pose, but will she break it out this early?

Yes, show domination from the get-go
No, this is secret weapon. Save it.

Bonus Question #12:

Will we see the fighters step foot in the TUF House within this first episode?

Yes, welcome home!
No, there must be total annihilation of half of you before you gets lodging. It's just how it's done.

-----

I'll finish up the second half with your help as the week goes on. With a cementing of the Episode 1 questions on April 13th, T-minus One Week away from premiere!

EDIT:

Bonus Question #3: Will JJ Champion have JJ Aldritch on her team, making for interesting, possible sitcom-like misunderstandings and confusions? Yes/No

My answers are:

Bonus Question #2: YES

Bonus Question #3: YES

Bonus Question #4: Will Joanna mutter Kate Jackson's full name, "Kate Jackson", when talking about/to her...
YES

Bonus Question #5: Who will get the first word in between these bitter rivals? In the show, whose voice will we hear first beyond the opening credits?
A) Joanna

Bonus Question #6: Who will get the last word? That's almost as sweet, getting the last word in... we're counting confessionals, but not previews for next episodes.
A) Joanna

Bonus Question #9: Will we get one of the mainstay appearances of all TUFs, more reliable than Dana himself, the tried and true travel bus scene in this first episode?
NO

Bonus Question #10: how many fighters will openly shed a tear or make the cry face with voice breaking in this heartbreaking first elimination show? SW and LHW included.
E) 6 or more will break down

Bonus Question #11: Will she in fact do her now famous "#1" gesture with her hand? It's her go-to pose, but will she break it out this early? (I assume that you mean in the first episode).
NO

Here's the rest of 'em, Mark, I'm gonna go back and do some old favorite bonus questions from past games thrown in there, too:

Bonus Question #13: WIll Dana mention the "Judges" in any way, as in the infamous, "Don't leave it up to the Judges" speech, or, I don't know, "WHat are these f@#&$ Judges THINKING!!!!", etc.?
mad0245.gif

Bonus Question #14: Speaking of cursing unintelligibly at the sky, will there be more than 3 instances where they will need to censor anyone for cussing? So if anyone, Dana or fighters or coaches, if there are four beeps, Over wins.

A) Over 3
B) Exactly 3 or Under 3

Bonus Question #15: *This question is in honor of the awesome Joanna gif created for sherdog by the Awesome Asurah! Will there be any drinking this episode by Joanna Jedi? No, not that kind of "drinking",
smiley-eatdrink007.gif
[Well, not yet anyways, not until they get into the house and Joanna comes over with "housewarming gift" of crate of Potato Wodka].

Will she sip from any beverage during this thirst quenching episode of fightin and evaluating?

Bonus Question #16: In TUF20, the softspoken Scot, Jojo Calderwood, had to use subtitles to traduce her cute accent, and it was kinda a big deal and awesome around here. Will they bequeath subtitles for the Polish Pontificator, Joanna Jędrzejczyk more than once?

Bonus Question #17: People praying in TUF is a common occurance, to stay strong in the house. Will we see someone with a Bible/Holy Book? Doesn't have to read it aloud or talk about faith, just visual confirmation.

Bonus Question #18: Which Strawweight will get the first confessional? So we all know the confessional talking head review, where we get little snippets of the fighters talking about and summarizing what's happening on the show? Looks really professional, they have this circle light that makes the fighter's eyeballs look cool?

Here are the 16 fighters, pick who does the first one of the episode:

Alyssa Krahn
Amanda Cooper
Amy Montenegro
Ashley Cummins
Ashley Yoder
Chelsea Bailey
Helen Harper
Irene Rivera
Jamie Moyle
J.J. Aldrich
Jodie Esquibel
Kate Jackson
Kristi Lopez
Lanchana Green
Mellony Geugjes
Tatiana Suarez

Bonus Question #19: Will Claudia talk about or mention her Brazillianess? Talk about her hometown, etc. If she talks about her gym, Nova União, then that counts too, because that gym is as reeking of Brazillianness as a Brazillian Flag wraped up in Açaí Berries on top of a Bronzed Beach Bikini Babe's Booty.

Bonus Question #20: How many "sudden victory" rounds will there be? Basically, that's the third tiebreaking round beyond the 2 that are usually given. We will count both male and female fights.

A) None! All first round finishers, brah!
B) One, there's always one
C) Two, that's twice more than one
D) Three to Four
E) Five or More!

Bonus Question #21: A season of men and women, young and strong and at hard worked levels of physical perfection and prowess, fighting alongside each other, in comeradeship and admiration... So will anybody make out or mention the attractiveness of another fighter/coach?

Bonus Question #22: Will Joanna talk about her '"kicks"? Joanna Jedi is known to be a verified shoe aficionado, wearing Nike Jordans and now Reebok stuff (in public, but in the privacy and freedom of her own home, probably back on the Nikes). Will she mention her love of sneakers, or anything about shoes?

Bonus Question #23: Sometimes, things can get awkward the first meeting. Safe to stick to something universal, like, say, the weather. JJ comes from a pretty cold country, and Claudia comes from a pretty humid/hot one. And Vegas is notorious for it's "dry" heat and "dry" ice for that matter.

Will anybody mention the weather? This includes remarking how it's a "sunny" day, or complain how hot it is, or cold it was, or perfect it could be, even indoors. If they mention a room is 'stuffy', stuff like that counts. If the bathroom was cold, or the gym was heated. Just talk about the temperature, people!
