So, I was sparrin' with a couple guys tonite... One time, I was goin' for an omoplata, but couldn't quite get all the way around. So, I'm sittin' there thinkin', "What can I do from here? Well, it wont be quite right, but I can set up a triangle from here and use that for an armbar." So I'm tryin' to lock up the triangle from the other guy's side. I can't quite get it, so I grab the arm, and as I was tryin' to straighten it for the armbar, he tapped. Aparently, due to the weird position we were in, as I was tryin' to straighten the arm, it was torquein' the shoulder like an Americana... Just thought that was a funny story to share... Course, maybe it was funny 'cause we were sparrin' outside in 40 degree weather and I couldn't feel my toes...

I've gotten that move like 8 times. I always seem to end up in that position and it is available to me. We never named it but it works for me.

I can't even slightly imagine what you discribe.

Well, I was almost on his back, so it was almost a backwards triangle. Like I said, I was just usin' the triangle to stabilize an armbar, but when I was goin' to straighten his arm, the angle I was at made it torque his shoulder like an Americana.

At least I'm not the only one who's gotten that. lol

i think the backwards triangle you would refer to is sankaku in judo, dont know what its called in bjj though

In Carlos Machado's Infinite Jiu Jitsu, he explains this exact set up. It's very nice, and I recommend the series to anyone, especially smaller guys.
