Shouldn't the Means fight be a DQ?

Because the old rules still apply

A fighter is grounded when anything other than the soles of their feet touched the canvas; a knee, a hand, a finger. A fighter can't be legally kicked in the head when grounded.

Yet "accidental knee on a grounded opponent" was called, when those were deliberate.

yes. the new rules arnt in affect until 2017 and it confused fuckin everybody. was illegal shot for sure even tho im not a brown cowboy fan

under the new rules that shot is legal becuase only 1 knee was down........at least i think.

They'll still be illegal. The new rule applies to the hand-to-ground putting and pulling game

Essentially the old definition still applies with an exception that for a hand to make a fighter grounded, both palms, both fists, or a palm and a fist must be touching the canvas.

So both Means and Mirg messed up.

When was it legal to knee someone in face with a grounded point of contact. That's been against recent rules

If they were fighting tonight and it was western time after midnight, would it still be illegal on east coast?

The only thing that changes is that both hands need to be on the ground if a knee isn't.

illegal shot. DQ means. how can a pro fighter not know the rules.

oh yeah, mark ratner is a retard. can't even get the rules right either. amazing.

I think Means not knowing was a factor for the NC tbh.

Everyone knows the rules. It's a clear dq. They are protecting the cheater.

That's worrisome. Neither Ratner, Rogan or Means knew the rules yet they're allowed to commentate, inform the commission and fight

yea harris rules means the limb has to be removed before letting go. the ref is there to protect him that he can accomplish this goal. or the nate fight. or the miller fight. man harris had his wild west rules down to a T lol

So a knee down was illegal and will still be illegal
Yeah there was some confusion during that fight but the plan was to remove the hand-to-ground gaming. They're not turning it into Pride.

Fairly sure even after the rule change that shot is illegal

Clear DQ. The knees were intentional and Means even admitted it. Was pissed listening to those buffoons not understanding the rules. The 3 points of contact Joe talked about is not the rule it's just a shitty way to explain the rule, Oliveira could have balanced himself on just his knee (one point of contact) and been grounded under old and new rules, same would go for elbow/ass/back/head/nipple.

If the shot was illegal then man, did rogan make an ass of himself with that post fight show...
