There's an item out called a Shoulder Horn, which fits over your neck and allows you to work your rotator cuff independently, as it locks you in the correct range of motion. Check out a local sports/lifting dealer and see if you can find one.

Stop lifting and training and see a doctor.

Mine was the opposite, I got slammed on my shoulder during wrestling, and it hurt while lifting weights, but not while rolling, so I kept training. Ended up tearing it out of nowhere, just during a normal roll, nothing special even happened.

Learn the extent of your injury before you continue on.

^^

I agree 100%. Get to your doctor ASAP. I know that is not the advice you want to hear but I hurt my shoulder couple of years ago, never got it looked at. Turns out I had a torn labrum and I have been out for 6 months :(

Same thing happened to me but it was my elbow. I could lift weights but when I was rolling it hurt like hell

I hurt my rotator cuff from a bad fall while training a couple years back, then aggravated it with more weightlifting. I was really frustrated for awhile because it seemed to take so long to heal. The key to helping it recover was physical therapy, but first you'll need an x-ray to make sure there is no bone damage. If you go to see your primary-care physician they can get you an x-ray right off the bat and give you information about physical therapy that you can do on your own. If your doctor is any good they also might be able to give you an idea of what kind of shoulder injury it could be, by lifting your arm up and applying force in different directions. The PT is key for regaining strength and helping it to heal quicker and it is possible you may be able to incorporate it into your normal workout routine and not have to stop training so much. Here are some basic rotator cuff exercises:

I still do these and others to this day to keep the rotator cuff strengthened. If PT doesn't help eventually your doctor may recommend an MRI to look at some softer tissue damage, but they are very expensive and your doctor may opt to exhaust all other possibilities first.

I have rotator cuff tendinitis in both of my shoulders and it sucks big time. Be sure to see a doctor.

A friend of mine got both of his messed up during wrestling. He got cortizone shots and saw a chiropracter to help him out and he's had alot of success with getting the shots aslong as its not a complete tear. I suggest an MRI and see if its torn or whats wrong with it and then go from there.

If you can forward flex your arm, and abduct it (lift it to the side) and lift weights without pain it seems somewhat unlikely that you have a cuff tear. At least not a complete tear. The motion involved in a "hook" is similar to that of what is called a "cross-arm test' and is more indicitave of an AC joint injury( i.e. you may have seperated your shoulder).
You may just need some rest, you may need some PT. Hopefully you dont need surgery.

Bottom line: go see an orthopaedic surgeon. look for one with a sports medicine fellowship.

best of luck
