Should winning the 3rd round count more?

(In 3-round fights), on the same logic that the championship rounds count most in five-round fights?

Or maybe the last minute of round 2 + the full round 3? That gives the same ratio of the last 40% being most important.

Under Texas rules Jeremy Stephens deserved to beat Yair Rodriguez. He won the third round despite losing the first two.

Winning the 3 minute and 50 second mark of each round should be most important imo, but only if said fighter is moving forward.

Also depends on who is higher ranked. You cant win a fight against someone ranked higher unless you decisively beat them

If you look at the scorecards, the "championship rounds" count exactly the same as the other rounds, so this entire premise that you seem to be arguing against does not exist and is complete bullshit.

all rounds have the same importance. i dont know where this notion of different rounds being weighed differently has come from.

Yes, because it's how you finish, also.. the first round should count more since it is how you start and the 2nd round should also count more since it's the transition process into how you finish.

Jon only won 2 rounds last night but because they're the championship rounds many argue it was fair for him to win the fight. So if the latter rounds are worth the most, it's fair to expect the same for 3 round fights.

I think second rounds are the most important.

It would be too impractical to reduce rounds from 300 to 1 second each.

I'm sorry but there is no real thought to this post. I wanted to take it seriously.

MMA needs a completely new & complex judging system. But I've always felt that the last round of fight should mean a little more than earlier rounds. People always say that MMA is a unique sport because it is also just a fight, so in a fight with no round limits, the fresher fighter winning past 25 minutes would most likely win a fight that had to end in stoppage.

If the last round means more, what about minutes within the last round? Surely the 5th minute of the last round would need to mean more than the first minute of the last round, under that logic? And the last 10 seconds, last 5 seconds, last split second?

The only practical solution is each 30 seconds is worth 1.5x the 30 seconds prior.

Both fighters should just hang around and save their gas tanks till a big flurry at the end
