Should there be a lesser sentence if a fighter just admits PEDS use?

I say yes. I don't like seeing this charade of fighters wanting to blame Thai penis pills, kangaroo meat or tainted supplements. Because till this day Anderson hasn't admitted to it.

I say if you admit it. You say. "YES, I CHEATED." You don't insult everyone's intelligence. Including the athletic commissions and USADA.

You get 1 year suspension.

You challenge it you say "I'm innocent! Check these supplements! Penis pills! Anabolic chicken or tainted kangaroo meat!" But are still found guilty and your claims unsubstantiated. You get 2 years.

So just to be clear. Under your system a fighter could literally juice his nuts off, then just own up to it after and get a lighter sentence.

Do you honestly not see the MASSIVE flaw in that plan?

they need to change the rules a little, if they admit to it straight of the bat 2years & smaller fine, if they play the i didn't do nuthin card then 3 to 4yr ban & higher fine.

Dude 4 years is almost career ending, sure they cheat but you might as well just ban them perm.

2 years + fine dependant on how annoying they tried to cover up

If the fighter admits usage before the fight, before the sample is tested, maybe. Like what happened with Cro Cop. I'm surprised he got 2 years but thems the rules. If it's a situation like that, I could be okay with some leniency I guess.

But after the fact? Like a failed in-comp test? Nah.

because this.

They should be banned for life for being dumb enough to admit drug use in a combat sport.

Admission gets you 2 years, wasting teacher's valuable time 5 years

No. They should go to zero tolerance.
One failed test and you're banned for life. That's the only way to get these guys to stop. (Even that may not be enough)

Who even gives a shit if they admit it or not. We already know they did it. The fucking test says they did it.

The more I think about this the dumber it is.

Yes IMO

It's admitting to the wrong you have done, and acknowledging you have done is bad.

It should lessen the ban slightly.

Ahaha true

Yes, just like the normal court system.

plead guilty and get a plea deal. 1 to 1.5 years.

Fight it and lose and get the max

I think they should consider it when determing their punishment

no i dont think that will work.

i mean it would work if they just scrapped testing.

I could see a slightly reduced sentence on admitting at the first opportunity.

Even criminal judges see this. You're not wasting anybody's time or dollars. When you're well and truly busted... Man the fuck up.

I'd be on board with 12 months. But if you're caught again... Say bye bye.

A plea deal is cut between the prosecution and the defence because the prosecution doesnt want to risk losing and the guy walking scot free. It is not in any way a reward for pleading guilty.

Jesus Christ, people.

1 year suspension is still bad. This is not a massive flaw.

Especially if repeat offences carry harsher penalties even if you own up.
