Should people toppling statues leave the country?

Naw fam. Sherdog higher ups are anti kneeling.

Since the Sherdog store closed years ago, you can't burn it down. But there is another option

They're only interested in thoughtlessly tearing down. It's a spirit of vengeance; the sterile, empty vengeance of entitled early 20s children who never experienced anything else but the most mundane first world problems. Moving out of the country would involve living by your principles, effort and fortitude... they have none of those personal qualities. Deep down they know they have life extremely easy, they have no intention of moving; they want to stay and keep destroying it for everyone else. There was a short documentary about black people who moved to Africa, at least those people actually believed what they said and made it happen - I have a million times more respect for that.

if they could justify tearing things down and "reasonable" people agree, people who contribute to their being able to do so, then go for it otherwise they are basically petulant children... screaming racism or orange man bad doesn't count and that's about all they seem to have...

just because one doesn't agree with something doesn't give one the right to attempt to erase and destroy it. We'd be better served to recognize our limited perspective and try to keep hubris in check...

I’m okay with people toppling, beheading and burning statues of “genocidal colonialists “. However, it only makes sense if they leave soon after. Continuing to make a living in the US, profiting from its current system while attacking what led to actual state is most hypocritical in nature. You’re basically a profiteer if you keep staying here meanwhile attacking foundations.
If you don't like people using their first amendment right to criticize the government and its history, then maybe you should leave the country......do you see how silly an argument this is?

People should want to address and correct problems, not run away from then.

I never understood how the whole "if you don't like it, then leave," argument ever caught steam or ever sounded like an intelligent argument to anyone.

They don't want a better future. They want revenge for the past

Well, I actually appreciate the sentiment against conquerors to some extent. I think people should make due with the borders they have now and we should lose out on glorifying conquerors at this point in modern history and global economy. We have more to gain by trading with each other than idiotic wars of aggression and de facto colonialism.

That being said, tokens of history, good and bad, I don't think need to be eliminated. Life sucks in a lot of ways, always has and always will, reminders of people of historical importance just doesn't offend me like it does many. People have always had good and bad sides, and statues in my mind serve to remind of the importance of people more so than perfection of people.

If you don't believe in your country, if you think that you cannot change things for the better working from within, and you instead choose to riot, destroy, and subvert, then yes, you should leave.

Better for everyone that way.

This is really a juvenile way of thinking.

Fact is people are tied to their country kind of like they are tied to their jobs and so forth. People can't magically snap their fingers and move. Sometimes you have to play the cards your dealt.

Lol, they don't want to live in any actual socialist or communist country, they're just angry losers who are mad at their dads and just want to rebel against authority.

You know what you'll never hear? Pull any BLM or antifa loser aside and ask how their relationship with their dad is, and not a single one would say "he's a great father and I love him dearly". Did you think a bunch of people from nice families are running around screaming about the "patriarchy" and dismantling the nuclear family?

They could just move to a place that already has socialism or communism if that's really what it was about, or they could have some commune here, but that's not what they want, what they really want is to feel powerful or important by taking stuff away from other people. Parasites need a host.

Anyone who wants to change the country from within through protest should leave. Protest is not what this country stands for.

Its not nough that we have laws against vandalism, they arent strict enough. Vandalizm ought to be treated like treason.

I get it, protests are cool. But where were these protesters one month ago? 6 months ago? Last year? Why are they suddenly tearing everything and making weird ass demands like cancelling the ozone layer. The genuine winds of change begin and slowly grow in intensity. What happened just now in the US is an ‘overnight’ thing, something that caters to the impulses rather than the mind.
