Steven Spielberg Doesn’t Think Netflix Movies Deserve Oscars

He saying that they should only be allowed to go for emmys cause they are some made for tv shit. And today Cannes Film fest said that Netflix cant compete cause of the same thing. That Netflix is doing some shady shit by only releaseing in small movie theather to be able to get Oscar. That they should have a Mass release like everyone else before going to the streaming service.

I think its bullshit and old hollywood needs to change. Netflix and other have made movie just as good as everyone else and should be allowed to compete.

What yall think. Should there be a sperate award show for just internet. there is the Emmys for TV and Oscar for Film. Maybe its time for something new, but i think they should be able to compete for now.

If they make one good enough, sure. I haven’t seen a good one yet.

It's stupid. If the movie is good enough, who should care how it was released?

It's a shame if Spielberg is afraid of a little competition.

Hmm, what is Netflix best Movie? anyone got one better than Beast of a Nation. and that was made to compete at Oscar

Fuck that. This was Oscar material imo:

Obviously not. It's TV. Oscars are for the cinema.

Stuff from netflix, amazon etc can compete for an Emmy.

The steps to qualify for the Oscars aren't a secret. If Netflix wants to play the game and do the short theater run, they are welcome to go for the gold.

The 'Hush' Netflix movie is all kinds of awesome so yeah.

Why shouldn't they be allowed? Shouldn't matter what platform a movie is released on, a movie is a movie.

Scorsese
De Niro
Pacino
Pesci

How could it not?

It's nothing to do with which actors are in it. Nor is it a knock on quality. It's simply a matter of whether it's in the cinema, or on TV.

For example, Matthew McConaughey was nominated around the same time for an Oscar for his cinematic work in Dallas Buyers Club, and also an Emmy for his TV work in True Detective. Same actor, same quality, two different things. I don't see the problem keeping them separate.

Then Steven Spielbergo has lost his shit.

Netflix is neither tv or movie so I guess it will never have a category....yet

Even still the oscars don't really matter. The best films don't always win let alone get nominated imo

It's TV bro.

Here's how you know:

If you try to 'netflix & chill' with a girl at the movies, you'll get arrested for public indecency.

Yeah, this I agree with. I enjoy the pomp & circumstance, the fun spectacle of it all; but when history is written, Kobe Bryant won an Oscar before Gary Oldman did. So fuck everyone.

Beasts of no nation should have got some Oscar love... I think it was the same year Jada was crying about racism because Smith's shitty concussion movie didn't get a nominated....

Sad... She should have seen Beasts of no nation to put into perspective how lame her crying is with her husband's terrible accent "Tell the troof! Tell the troof!... OMG he deserves an Oscar!!!
