should JDS retire?

Like the vast majority of MMA fighters, he's still the same technical fighter he was when he debuted against Werdum, except he's a lot less durable, slower, and less explosive.

He's still the same guy with zero head movement that lunges from half the octagon to throw uppercuts but with his speed gone, it doesn't work anymore.

He has gone the same route as Chuck Liddell. Terrible technical strikers with huge power and endurance, once their endurance and the ability to take a shot went down, they became punching bags.

Yes. Him, Anderson and Aldo all need to retire. It’s hard for me to see them winning another fight.

He is only 35 years old . He would make a good gate keeper for the young guys.

He is finished at the top though. He probably should stay away from the top 10 list fighters
35 going on 60. He has gotten finished via strikes several times in the past few years, plus the 2nd and 3rd Cain fights + the Hunt war probably combined for like 500 clean shots to his face.

He should definitely hang them up. Gonna enter Bigfoot Silva territory soon.

yeah or at least take a year off and then decide but if he does fight again should be a retirement fight in brazil

He should retire , he does not see the punches coming , his reflexes and timing are gone ,and they won't comeback , those are the first sign of an aging fighter .

Jds was able to defend the takedowns pretty good and probably the better striker, but couldn't do both at the same time. Not time to retire, but he's slowing down for sure.

He probably should have retired after the 3rd Cain fight.

The 2nd and 3rd fight with Cain ruined him.

Damn he even lost more of his hair

He isn’t getting sparked our cold yet when he gets hit, which is a good thing. But with the damage he’s taking, that isn’t far off.

It probably depends on how much his contract is for. Obviously he should retire for his health but this is the way he makes a living. He could be an Arlovski type fighter who will beat a lot of lower-tier guys. I think he's done as a contender.

His huge error imo was taking the third Cain fight so early after getting destroyed in the second fight.
That second fight alone did serious damage to him, probably fucked with him mentally as well, he took the third fight and got blasted even worse.
He's not a good fundamental boxer, and not a good wrestler, that was clear after the second fight, take time off, improve, fight some lower guys, then come back and fight the top dog down the line, swallow some pride and step back, take a look at yourself ffs.

35 years old but a lot of fights miles, he's not been the same since the Cain fights.

yeah he should, he used to be known for his hands and great boxing as a heavyweight, now he can't pull the trigger and can't move.. he's done. he has been for a while.

JDS got too cocky. If you listen to his pre fight interview, my wife pointed out how full of himself he sounded. He used to be humble back in the prime Cain days.
