The most important thing is having someone to push you to your limits whether it be a coach or training partners. You won't make it on our own. No offence.
Define without a coach? If you've spent time formally training before, especially if you've been in a competition before, than sure why not. Just know that it's not ideal.
If without a coach means you watched youtube, ran around your neighborhood, and tried to choke your friends in the backyard... I'd say don't waste your time.
I train formally in a gym and have competed without a coach next to the mat. Assuming you're not a YouTube fighter (no offense if you are) and simply won't have a coach with you at the competition, then go for it. It may not be optimal, but it will be good experience.
Do you mean go to a tourney without a coach? Yeh, sure this is not professional football, where you need lots of coordination and play calling. Just go to the tourney, and go ballz out.
I've competed way more without a coach than with a coach. My results have always been about the same. Go for it, it's always better to compete and get the experience anyway.
The last few tournaments, I have competed without my coach at the tournament. Had mixed success, but was able to actually take first in a tournament. You definitely can compete and do well, but I feel having a coach there, giving you instructions for the little things you can't see to be more effective.
Assuming you mean that you just won't have a coach with you at the competition, then sure, go for it. I can't say that anytime I've been competing that I've had someone coaching me during/between matches. As long as you remain disciplined and make sure to warm up properly, you'll be okay.

Ive won alot of tournaments without a coach. It helps if you not assure of your moves and techniques but to each is own... Try it and findout...
Just have fun..
I'm almost always annoyed by people yelling stupid advice to me.
I fear I'll someday mess up badly by following it.
The best experience I had with someone coaching me was a dude yelling to me "You are loosing... can't do that", *bam* opponent fell into trap.
