Saw in another thread that people are saying GLORY is stupid for getting videos pulled from YouTube so fast

I know that the UFC was supposedly aided by fights being available all over youtube in the early days, before it got mega popular. Would it make a useful advertising mechanism for Glory fights as well, or do they protect their revenue stream by getting the fights pulled as soon as people put them on youtube?

Why even ask? It's a no brainer. "Pirated" videos equals (practically) free publicity.

How much money is Glory getting on their site from people that pay exclusively to watch the fight videos? I'm certain most (if not all) of the people that pay do it for the live streams and get the access for the videos as an added bonus. If there would be no live streams that number would drastically go down.

Now ask your self, what is better? Get pocket change money (for Glory what they get there is pocket change - and i repeat, for people that pay exclusively for the fight videos and not the live streams) from the the site OR have that money invested in publicity ALL OVER the internet by not blocking the videos?

Glory shouldn't have site subscribers as an end target for revenue, they should have as a target the BIG business deals with televisions all over the globe (like the one they are chasing after in US, SpikeTV) and how will they get them? Most importantly HAVE FANS THAT LOVE YOUR PRODUCT AND TURN THE TV ON TO WATCH IT! But how the fuck do you get fans if you instantly block all your videos from the internet? Food for thought...

I came here to call you an idiot but after reading your post i understand completely.

The obvious right thing to do is to pull the videos BUT if they let some vids stay on or if they put all the fights on months later then it would gain publicity from casuals saying "Did you see this giant Schilt guy just kick some dude called Ghita in the head!? I'm watching this shit more often"

Trying to make money off streams, site memberships and videos is a lost cause. The amount that it limits viewership drastically outweighs the little revenue that comes from charging for all this. The UFC is a proven, sustainable, and profitable company and thus gets away with it. GLORY is basically a year old and needs to establish their name, brand, fanbase, viewership, etc and limiting most people from accessing your videos won't help at all.

Why can't they do something like Bellator where they have better highlights (bellators just seem more appealing) from the latest fights and even some actual good free fights (they have Eddie vs. Chandler for crying out loud)? Also they have terrible search results. When you type in bellator into google or youtube, the first thing that pops up is not only a bellator related video, but their offical channel. Now type in Glory into youtube, the whole first page is dedicated to some random movie and video games. The 2nd page has some Glory stuff, but even the first video isn't their official channel. They have to stop with this and put up the fights with the big names like Ghita and Spong. Maybe do a weekly thing where each week a certain fight is free, that will keep people interested.

I have a question:
Why doesn't Glory allow spinning back fists? They already banned elbows and clinches... making it essentially boxing with kicks.
What's next, banning spinning kicks any anything below the waist?

Glory does not realize how badly they are limiting their ability to expand their fanbase by immediately pulling their fight videos from YouTube. Having the fights on YouTube gives people the ability to link them to their friends and associates. Many combat sports fans are rather oblivious to kickboxing, however if they could view some of the amazing fights that happen under Glory's banner then they would likely be converted into fans. This would not only help Glory by enlarging their viewership numbers and thus leading to more profits, but it would help increase the overall interest in the sport of kickboxing as a whole. After all, isn't that one of the goals that Glory stated that they had in mind once they seriously launched their new efforts? Allowing the fights to be on YouTube would absolutely grow the sport.

Spinning backfists are allowed. It's just when they land with the forearm that the ref obviously warns about it

Ugh they kept that rule from showtime? The only problem I see with it is that it leaves the thrower of it with the back of his exposed for a bit but that's his own fault for throwing it, it shouldn't be a rule. But who knows, Ghita was sweeped even though it was illegal and was considered a knockdown so depends on the ref and who he likes.

Glory allows spinning backfists morons...

I really don't have a problem paying. If you time it right like I did, you end up getting 3 events for $30, $10 a piece that you can stream in really good quality from your laptop to your tv or even your I phone. Hardcore kickboxing fans always want shit free, I don't mind supporting the sport. I get it though, Glory should try and get as much exposure as they can and a big part of that is YouTube. The should feature more full fights via their channel, and the do some, but I don't blame them for trying to make money.

Btw, the event is free on CBS sports. Tune in and support...

What are you talking about? Nobody is asking for free live streams (even though once in a while it would be good for them to stream some of the shows for free), we are talking about having fight videos after the events are done for free. And this is not about the hardcore, this is about getting NEW fans in the sport, this is about doing SMART business!

Every night, the main bout, and two supporting bouts plus one knock out scene is televised on TV by muaydeetsport. This is within one hour after the event, from either Rajdamnern or Lumpinee stadium. They don't televise the whole bout, but 3-4 decisive rounds of each bout. A repete is broadcasted at 6:00am next morning. Later, each bout will be posted on You Tube. You can search under muaydeetsport. Unfortunately, the title is in Thai, so you'll have to know what you reading. At least you get to see all the big name fighters. Promoters don't get a cut on this, but they get free advertising.:D Personally, I think Glory would get more publicity from You Tube freebies than to block these clips.
Below is a free clip from muaydeetsport

Hardcore kickboxing fans already have the entire event downloaded and sitting on their hard drives. They aren't buy access to Glory's library. Removing the fights from YouTube simply keeps the hardcore fans from spreading the sport via social media, which costs Glory in the end.

given that I pay for every card, I disagree. but I get that people think that everything should be free on the internet. cynicism aside, I do think Glory should let SOME of their stuff show up for free on youtube. Not necessarily all of it, but definitely enough that will bring in additional eyes. when i first started watching kickboxing I started with all the old K-1 events that were on youtube and it drew me in pretty quickly.

That was it's showtime. Glory did and does allow backfist.

Glory banning Golden Glory TV... Must be some kind of misunderstanding but it 's still a bit strange...

No misunderstanding. Just that automatic copyright systems suck. Some video somewhere on a non-authenticated account has a few secs of their material-> blocked! Glory really should rethink their stance on this "issue".
