I understand that it is a dominant position but it can be used to stall for a lot of time on just the threat of a rear naked choke.

A fight should be able to be stood up from any ground position if it is evident that neither party is being remotely aggressive.

Yes, fights should be stood up within 10 seconds of going to the ground
Grappling is for pussies, let'em bang

yes, but only under a very exaggerated situation

and obv not tonight

If they are just locking them there and not moving, then maybe. But 99% of the time, no.

holding a guy down is holding a guy down. stand it up after a minute.

Jacare was trying to get the choke, his opponent was just extremely annoying. I hate when people are happier to just defend the choke instead of actually trying to escape the position.

No. If you got yourself into a position where you're fighting off a RNC, it's your own fault and you shouldn't get help.

And im a Carmont fan all the way. If he could have kept it standing he had that.

Only when they're laying there and hitting pitter patter shots

If they're actually going for chokes, let them work.

If neither fighter is doing anything in the standup the fight should be put on the ground.

Staying on a guys back with only 1 or 2 meaningful submission attempts for minutes is akin to Caleb Starnes running from the fight only throwing 1 or 2 meaningful punches.

Yea, but not when the best grappler in mma has your back

It seems like we are giving him more credit than he is due. Sure he might be the best grappler but he can also stall just like other fighters and use the fact that he is the best to coast along in fights.

Anyways a lot of fights are slowed down tremendously from the back, 3 minutes go by and all a fighter has to do is look for the RNC. If they are a good grappler then it is almost impossible to get them off your back.
