The obvious answer is, duh... They work harder and spend more money on 5 round training camps. Plus all the media obligations and the over sensory load is physically and psychologically taxing...

I feel each fighter should get at least $50,000 for being in a main event.

    Agree or disagree?

Generally speaking yeah, there’s obviously exceptions and what not. Nicco montano headlining a fight night shouldn’t get paid the same as a Gilbert burns.... just pay everybody more ‍♂️

Maybe alot more $ for those with name recognition and how many fights they've had in the UFC...

Plus this incentivizes fighters to step in for someone who's injured. Maybe give 2x the value for late replacements...

They should definitely get something extra for a 5 rounder. I don't know if they train harder just differently, but they typically do take more damage if the fight goes into the 4th and 5th rounds.

True. But if you get a certain type of ref in there, and doesn't stop the fight until way later, that's just going to create more unnecessary trauma and cte. Then, after all that, homeboy just gets his show money... smh.

you think they don't? Disclosed payouts for events are not everything they get paid.

It should probably depend on how you have your contract structured. Agents can add clauses and have incentives laid in there.

I'm all for these guys getting top dollar to lay it all on the line, but if you sign for x number fights at x to show and x to win, then thats what it is. Your only gonna get more if your one of the elite guys or the UFC is in a bind.

Other sports athletes can have incentives built in like bonuses for being an all pro, or all nba 1st or 2nd team, or certain goals being hit. That could be the equivalent of landing a 5rd main event or being a #1 contender.

You know some money gets thrown around that we might not be privy to, but you can't just sign some shit and expect more half way through your deal.

They probably already do since it usually takes time to be a main event fighter (free tv or not) and they have already established a name for themselves. Justin Gaethje had a main event as his first UFC fight, I bet he entered having a good contract compared to veterans and journeymen.

    I don't understand these threads.

There's a reason the UFC is the UFC and there's a reason Strikeforce doesn't exist.

Fighter pay is part of that. Go make Sherdog fights and then as the owner live in a cardboard box working 90 hours a week. Pay the fighters 90% of the profits. The internet will love you.

Life isn't fair, anyone who says differently is a fool or a salesperson

Bellator would go bankrupt with all the tournaments with 5 rounds they put on.

Obviously they should. You think the UFC is charging more to companies to have their brand flaunted about during the main?

What they should do, is give more incentives that can lead to more pay. This way they can get better fights (generally speaking) since the fighters are more motivated to reach these incentive$$$.

Doing these things will give you a bonus comparative to your pay. (Also obviously the base pay should be higher than what the UFC is paying out, but that is being ignored in my scenario).

    Main/Co-main20%+
    KO finish - 15%
    TKO finish - 10%
    Sub finish - 10%
Fight of the night - 30%
Finish of the night - 30%

Champs - 20%(every title fight), and 20% added at end of year if you defend belt 3 times within year as champ
    Title challenger - 10%
    Fighter fights 3 times within a year - 15%

3 fight win streak or more - 5% every fight
10 fight win streak or more - 20% every fight
3 fight finish streak or more - Extra 10% for every fight finished while on streak
10 fight finish streak or more - Extra 20% for every fight finished while on streak

So the better you do the more you can make. Fights would be more exciting, though these numbers are just spitballing. I'm sure others can add to the list as well.

What makes you think that they don’t get paid more for main events?
