I agree, but it's more that it happened to a woman that's bringing out the reaction.
And I'll be damned, if people reacting to ladies getting sparked reverberates through all of mma.
Full disclosure, I'm not a really big wmma fan
No. Don't turn this to a coward sport. God no.
Yeah if this was a man nobody would mind. Some people just don't like seeing women get beat up. I don't mind it (lolz) but understand why some do. But ffs we don't need to change any rules. They know what they're getting into.
Yep, I'm baffled by it too.
No. And also it's impossible to ban it cuz then you're banning all other throws from wrestling, judo, etc.
I think it's more the fact that it's someone like Rose, who gives off the innocent girl vibe, that really shaped perceptions.
Nunes nearly knocked Cyborg's head off, and I don't recall anybody saying that was disturbing to watch.
Mma sure does attract a lot of snowflakes the last 5 years or so. Dudes like this writing articles about violence. Like dafuq what did you think you were watching? Is this worse than eating a headkick, getting slashed open and pounded out by elbows, having your arm broken or your shoulder dislocated by subs?
You gonna ban all that too? We don't watch for zen martial arts way of the warrior bullshit. We watch to see people get the fucking shit beat out of them. If that's too visceral and brutal then this ain't the sport for you.
Slams like that are so rare, and almost always preventable by the one being slammed, so no, keep it. Just avoid the direct spikes like it is now.
Find a different sport if a slam KO disturbs you. It is Rose's own fault for clinging onto that kimura grip.
Her legs look like Fedor when he got Randleplex!
Rose was busting her face up and making her gas till she got slammed. I don’t think Andrade is a better fighter, but she is obviously stronger.
Watch Fedor's right arm, he lets go of the Kimura at the very end which saved him, that's the mistake Rose made I believe, not letting go.
It was up to Rose to react and let go of the arm before she got dropped on her head. Andrade did nothing wrong, and it was a heck of a comeback. Namajunas was piecing her up with style prior to that moment.
I wouldn't watch this sport if it wasn't for Hughes and Rampage slamming people around
Strength is a part of fighting. If you're circling someone jabbing away trying to win a decision, and they slam you on your head and knock you out, who just proved they're better at unarmed combat?
Rose should have let go of the sub and defended the slam. Reminds me of Mir breaking Big Nog's arm. It wasn't Mir's fault Nog refused to tap. Tap or snap, your choice.
Only a matter of time till that kind of slam is banned because sooner or later someone is going to be paralyzed by it, which will set MMA back 10 years or more in terms of mainstream acceptance.
