Should America really be 3 separate countries?

Yeah their lives would be bad there.

Those people like their countries though. Or at least Tunisans do. They want autocratcs and religion running the show. Moldova is a bad example and just needs to either be saved by fully becoming a Russian proxy which will see massive investment into the country or by joining Romania. Though the EU itself says Romania corruption is next level. A lot of Muslim countries people legit are happy with the social policies and cultural authortarianism and intolerance.

Most people don’t want to live in poverty if they don’t have to.

I actually agree that the US is made up several different countries. Ideally they should separate.

Realistically? A Midwest/South country headed by Trump would be hell for non-whites, LGBTQ people, etc. You'll see lynchings non-stop, legal open discrimination, etc. Basically an apartheid state with unchecked human rights abuses.

We have to rule over these regions to keep these things from happening.

Saving this to my cringe compilation, brother of #ogun

Most people don’t want to live in poverty if they don’t have to.

Define poverty though. Its relative when we use the big mac index PPP. The reality is a lot of people on earth are motivated by religion or other beliefs and prioritize that over economy and social democracy with Democratic socialism and sensible economic policy. Its why you can have people move somewhere wealthier for financial reasons and still supporting the ideology of the place they left, because they feel it is superior. Right wing Christians will take money from liberal states and then still vote for Trumpism. Similarly large amounts of people from many tribal areas of the world will still support their tribalism while living in the west and taking advantage of the system.

Looking at the electoral map, it's clear america is really three separate countries forced to live under one national umbrella.

The people of the three different regions have nothing in common and no love or understanding for each other's ways or views.

The west coast which includes california, oregon, washington state, nevada and arizona should be a separate country. They have more in common with each other and they're mostly in favor of liberalism, immigration, environmental issues, energy independence and tech. they have a lot of trade with asia. Their president would be somebody like gavin newsome.

the midwest and south are a different culture completely. they care about religion, guns, conservative views of marriage and sexuality, they're against immigration and resistant to racial inclusiveness. their president should be trump

the northeast (including new york, nj, ri, mass, vermont, maine, PA, maryland, delaware and virginia) is also different. they are very liberal and have the intellectual and financial power houses. They also have a lot of trade with europe. Their president would be cuomo.

if the country were broken up in this way we would see some huge initial changes such as mass migration of blacks from the south and midwest to the west and east. but in the long run, I think we would have a lot less strife in our lives if we were to break the US up into these three separate sections, each independent of the others and autonomous where people can live their lives without a guy in LA or Newark having to abide by the same laws as some dude from nashville or fort worth.

Great idea

I don’t think they’d want that.

Their culture and affinity for their lakes is very unique and a matter of identity and pride.

Can you explain how Michigan connects to NY? Not saying you are wrong, I just don’t follow that bit.
but i envision michigan being more like the northeast...illinois too...so they woulld be part of the vermont- virginia zone

hio intrepid brawler,

i think the South would be ok, sort of, if they split off.

the south would deregulate EPA protections to smithereens (since they'd no longer be bound by the EPA). ditto OSHA. there'd be no unions, or any left in the South would be radically weaker since public support there is non-existent.

i can see the Northeast and the West "offshoring" to the South. they'd be impoverished and easy prey for all those pointy headed MBAs in the northeast. low wage work would would thrive in Mississippi. garbage scows from the Newark would arrive in Charleston Harbor. wealthy college kids from Maryland would go "south of the border" to some lawless party town in West Virginia to drink 'til they're blind.

*ponders*

California and Pennsylvania would find some crackpot governor in Kentucky or Florida to accept their hazardous waste for a fee.

in a way, the South would be fine, depending on how you define the term.

but getting rid of unions in the south would depress wages, causing a depression. farms would fail. whole cities would collapse from lack of economic base, so, ultimately, we might see dust bowl like situation leading to a lot of migration east and west. Whoever remains would be hardcore religious fundamentalists, small lawless communities and people living pretty much of the grid....i doubt those places would be party havens.

but i agree they would become dumping grounds for toxic waste and sources of low-cost labor.

hiya intrepid brawler,

when i said party town, i wasn't thinking Cancun; i figured it would be kind of a dilapidated place when you could score or drink 'til you're stupid and vomit in the street. an untidy place.

also, i forgot about all those evangelicals, lol.

it would really be a terrible, backward country.

Its gonna be a disaster for all white people in the world.
Basically we gonna have China as the only super-power.

Wait where do rocky mountain states fall in this hypothetical 3 way split. With the exception of Colorado the rocky mountain states are pretty red. Montana, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming are red as hell. Colorado is very blue now. Colorado would probably be happy to go with the west coast states, but the others most certainly would not. Geographically the red rocky mountain states are closer to the coast thug, and Colorado closer to the Midwest/South nation. I think Colorado would have to be part of the west coast nation though geographically isolated and the other rocky mountain states either get their own 4th nation or join witH tHe midwest amd south.

Without the red states in the Midwest and South the other two countries would starve to death.

The OP is based on a false premise. The cultural disparities are based more on urban/suburban/rural, than they are geographical region, IMO.

They just connect if you factor in the lakes...They are both on Lake Erie so there theoretically could be a direct shipping line that wouldn’t have to cross through the hypothetical Midwest country (ny state not ny city)

Right, I mean that would be business as usual I guess, there are lots of ports and a decent amount of shipping all through the Great Lakes

Lol, no, the west and the northeast would be just fine. The Midwest/south would be one of those shithole countries Trump despises.

You do realize the the South/Midwest would invade the West pretty quickly.

I feel like some folks have never been to the south, but believe a lot of stereotypes about it.

Illinois barely touches a lake, I imagine they would have a pretty big problem if they were choked off from Lake Michigan. Virginia is NE to you? More mid-Atlantic imo but whatever
