Perhaps this should be in the war room, feel free to move it but I stray from that place.

I'm binging live PD on youtube and 90% of the traffic stops are just cops looking for drugs to make an arrest.

Obviously everyone who wants to do drugs is able to do them anyway. Seems like a gigantic waste of tax payer money to have these cops that spend all their time trying to arrest drug users. Not only that, If it was all legal you would have a governing body producing the product.. so there goes all the drug dealers. Also it would prevent accidental overdose due to laced substances like this huge Fentanyl epidemic. You would know your dose and know when it's too much. People are gonna do drugs and id like to see tax money spent on finding killers, rapists. Not cops roaming about harassing people for getting high.

Yes, they should all be legal. The government should have no business telling people what they can or can't put in their body.

I think drug use should be decriminalized. Trafficking and selling large quantities should remain illegal.

Sending someone to jail over an ounce of weed or a few grams of coke is a waste of taxpayer money and policing.

Interesting question...I think most reasonable people would agree that weed should be legal...after that, drawing the line on harder drugs is a little trickier...

Driving on drugs would still be illegal so that point is moot.

All opiods should definitely be illegal due to them being used for medical purposes and their highly addictive nature. I also think anything that you can't test for immediately should be illegal (such as ABV for alcohol) as there will probably be a rise in people doing dumb shit while on drugs so you need to be able to prove they were on drugs.

I mean alcohol is legal and you cant drive on it. They'd have to have better testing to determine if someone is too high to drive

For the record I dont do hard drugs. I dont even smoke weed that often. Just drink.

same and I actually expanded that post to better explain my point. Basically if you can't immediately tell if someone is on something it should be illegal IMO.

Your posts sort of confused me.

Basically you're saying it's too easy to hide being on opiates right? Maybe if you cant tell they're on it then they're probably ok..

If someone does too many opiates to drive you nod off, there are major signs. Your pupils get tiny. I havent heard of too many accidents caused from opiate use

On coke or meth you can tell when someone is on it. Just like alcohol it's just different signs

Yes. Less crime, Less OD's and more tax revenue so they can lower other taxes.

For alcohol there is a test that can prove you are on alcohol right then and there. This is important legally because driving under the influence is illegal while getting into an accident sober isn't necessarily illegal. Say all drugs are illegal and someone gets into an accident on Drug X, but there isn't a way to test if someone is currently on Drug X. There is a blood test that says they have been on Drug X in the past week. It would be very hard to PROVE that someone was on Drug X while they swerved off the road and hit someone.

Check out Portugal's drug decriminalisation.
They have a readon to claim it a success.

I'm not sure if the legalization of highly addictive and very damaging drugs is the right way. Like meth or some other super evil stuff i never heard of. Just look at all the casualties and costs from tobacco and alcohol alone.
But generally, yeah. Drug policy so far is a failure and needs a change.

I'm sick of all the dirtbag junkies in my town, lock em all up and throw away the key as far as I'm oncerned

These alcohol tests weren't around in the 70s. It's a new invention and I'm sure they could invent ways to tell if someone is on an amphetamine, benzodiazepines, cocaine, or opiates. Imo it wouldn't even be that difficult. Most arrests on dwis come from the sobriety tests. They would just have to come up with different ones.

Also getting into an accident sober is illegal if you caused it. You get a ticket fo sho

Its a tough question because if you criminalize drugs, you are taking away a freedom from someone who might not abuse it.

On the other hand, you will save countless addicts a lifetime of misery if you do.

If I was in charge, marijuana would be legal, but maybe nothing else.

All adults over 18 would be given a drug card. All drug transactions would be monitored by the Government, and limits would be in place to prevent you from buying too much. If you abuse the system you will no longer be allowed to purchase anything, and repeated offenses could result in jail time.

You could apply that same system to alcohol, but imo alcohol is just too damaging to the body and should be illegal. Cigarettes are also too damaging.

I lean strongly towards yes but I dont believe the crap many say, such as the same amount of people would use drugs. I think there would be many benefits but I also think many many more people would be users/addicts

Imagine if meth heads didnt have to worry about getting busted and could buy/use as much meth as they can afford...

Imagine if Normal Guy Dave, on his way home after losing his job and going through a messy divorce could stop at a gas station and say "fuck it. Let's see what heroin is all about"

Yes, people shouldn’t be taking most of these drugs, but it doesn’t help them to give them criminal records to go along with their potentially deadly addictions.
