Going out to buy some new shorts before my next bout at KotC (my last pair is ripped all the way to the waistline). What is everyone's position on board shorts vs. the spandex? I've always preferred the shorts because it gives me something to grab on to in the event of a kimura, but my Jitz coach swears by the Spandex. Thoughts?

ive never really been into spandex valle tudi shorts. I go for board shorts but I also like the new shorter shorts from venum, hayabusa, triumph united.

    Shorts if you're a guy.
Isn't grabbing your own short cheating?

I did like my Ring 2 Cage shorts, I was just rolling and my partner's heel got caught in the leg while he was somersaulting and tore them.

Just get good shorts that you can tie up even if it has elastic. Also make sure it's not too big after you cut or it will fall off and when you pull up your pants your opponent will punch you. Don't use running shorts. That's what I saw at my local mma fight this weekend.

I've always worn shorts as I don't in any way look like GSP and the muffin top doesn't show as much.

For me though, they both feel the same as I'm usually wearing compression shorts underneath anyway
