Lol, there’s no defense for this, it’s just Tito being Tito. The common saying is the reverse of this. Stars are farther than the moon, in general... so it’s harder to reach them. So Tito is basically saying he was shooting for something better, and ended up accepting his current girl, even though she’s a lesser thing than what he was aiming for.

Actually Tito's Quote makes more sense.

Shoot for the stars and you might land on the moon.....Which makes sense since the Moon is way closer.....So Scientifically speaking, Tito corrected the original inaccurate quote.

The phrase "Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars," means to aim for a specific goal, and even if you don't achieve it, you'll be better off than when you started. Can you imagine how a woman would feel if you posted online to millions that you weren't shooting for her and a life with her was just the backup of where you ended up? He's saying he "got his moon."
