What you guys think? Should Shogun retire or try a move to the 185lbs division?

I hate seeing these 185 shogun threads

He can't make it and never will

And it's not like he matches up well with the fighters there

You guys act like Shogun walks around at 205

He walks around at 230

he went from dethroning Machida to fighting beastin'25/8 if he was gonna drop down to 185 he would've done it a long time ago it doesn't matter at all at this point tbh

can he make 185? if he loses he can fight Manuwa, somebody will be KO'd in retirement for sure

I always wanted to see him fight at 185 but it obviously wasn't appealing to him. At this point with MW being the better division, the time for him to make the move is long gone

They arent even fighting?

Or neither. He's thirty four.

Machida - 37
Belfort - 39
Anderson (the real one :)) - 40
Dan Henderson - 45

Look he'll never be champ again and I know his knees are fecked but still!!

Supporting Shogun no matter where he goes or what he does. War Shogun !

Well I think the point is he shouldnt be walking around anywhere near 230. The guy has the frame of a middleweight and by todays standards some welterweights and always looks doughy. 185 is where he should be. There are giants in 205 now. Giants with HW frames and still much lower body fat percentages than him.

cant make 185,there would be nothing left of him. Im pretty sure he knows more than you guys saying he can.

His chin isn't what it used to be, he's already got shot knees, and cutting weight isn't gonna make him any younger or fix his problems.

If he loses he definitely needs to retire, hell I thought he should have retired after that OSP disaster.

Shogun does NOT belong at MW. For him it would probably be an even worse cut than Conor to FW. Believe it or not, Machida is considerably smaller than Shogun. Machida has a small-medium body frame. Shogun has a medium-large body frame. Shogun has longer reach (which adds some weight). If Shogun can't hack it at LHW then he needs to clock out. I actually think he would get dominated at MW even worse than Machida has, assuming Shogun could even make that weight.

He needs to get out of the way. During the years of what should have been his fighter prime Shogun has LOST 8 fights out of 15 since Griffin in '07. Think about that. From age 25 to 34 (prime years) Shogun has had one of the worst records of any top ranked fighter in the UFC. Dude is 7-8 (W/L). He loses fights. He needs to go.

This times infinity.

Lol, he means corey aka beastin 25/8 or whatever that guys goofy nickname is. Shitty title thread as there is only 1 "Anderson"
click bait thread Also, I keep trying to tell everyone that is truly the worst nickname of all time! And he's going against one of the best nicknames of all time in Shogun.

Shogun has said several times he cannot make 185. He doesn't have that much muscle or fat to lose, it's just his frame that is heavy, which is why he looks small for the division despite being 225-230.
