Jon Jone put a beat down on broken Shogun. Beatings like that can have lasting impact on people.
People say this Jones is past his prime, but he's only 32 or something, and it's not like he has been suddenly looking bad, it has been a while, though he managed to rack up enough points.

Jon Jones that beat Shogun in my opinion is the most talented fighter that I've ever seen. But the question becomes...is that TRUE Jon Jones?

Jones would have also beaten a healthy knee'd shogun.

    Even in Pride.

    Get over it.

There's maybe 2 people who have been bigger delusional Shogun fans on Sherdog in the past 13 or so years than I have and even I think this is a retarded thread.

He's been fighting for a long time and has been in some wars himself. Sure he's 32, but his body has a ton of mileage on it.

the one thing jones was good for was deflating the retarded pride hype balloon. literally beat the dog shit out of shogun, won every second of that fight; shogun was a punching bag.

You say Jones is only 32 well how old was Shogun when he got mauled by Jones. Let's imagine a 23 year old shogun vs a 23 year old jones, frankly I think it'd look much like the match they already had.

How is Shogun better than Jones? Jones beat him head-to-head and his resume is lightyears ahead of Shogun's.

No even if Jones lost he would still be well ahead of Shogun.

Just so I have your view correct...

The Jon Jones that beat Shogun at 23 years old is the most talented fighter you've seen. But...that's not the "true" Jon Jones. But...Jones is now "only" 32 so is...not past his prime?

    I think I've got it...maybe...or...

Shogun is my second favorite fighter of all time, and I'm of the belief that there are two different great versions of Shogun. The wild, unpredictable force that blazed through PRIDE, and the tactical wizard that dispatched Liddell and Machida.

Jones got the tactical wizard, and beat him like he stole something. I saw nothing in that fight, or any of Jones' other fights from that time, to suggest that the PRIDE version would have done anything beyond slightly better, and MAYBE make it to a lopsided decision loss.

That said, I still believe Shogun is the second greatest light heavyweight of all time, but it's a steep drop down from Jones, and Shogun has a lot of competition for that #2 argument.

LMAO Thread after thread, trying to convince yourself that Jones doesn't make your heroes look like children, and that somehow some way, he isn't the best fighter we have ever seen...

Keep praying and hoping and wishing on your lucky stars.....
