For those MMA fans who are not too familiar...Ronaldo (Brazil) is one of the best strikers in soccer history
For those who ARE familiar, the comparison is very obvious.
Shogun
Ronaldo
We've always heard that Fedor/GSP/Jon Jones are the "Michael Jordan" or MMA. But what are some of the other more "out of the box" analogies that you can think of?

Shogun
won the Pride GP in 2005 at age 23, and won fighter of the year for 2005.
After this he suffered crippling injuries, including blowing out his knee and breaking his arm.
After embarrassing and lacklustre performances showing a lack of fitness (Forrest 1 and Coleman 2) he found his form again, and with refined skill and careful strategy he became the UFC champion and world #1 again in 2010, aged 28, despite not having the speed and explosiveness he had in 2005.
Since 2010 his career has been further plagued by injuries, with memorable moments and flashes of the "old" shogun sprinkled in.
Now he looks old and fat, he lost all the physical attributes he once had (speed cardio chin) and is left with he knowledge and killer instinct.
Today he is considered a legend but also a sad story of missed potential.

Ronaldo
won the Ballon D'Or (world's best player) in 1997 aged 20, and carried Brazil to the world cup final in 1998.
After this he suffered crippling injuries, including blowing out his knee.
After failed comebacks where he injured his knee again, and basically being out for 1.5 years, he found his form again in 2002 and won the Ballon D'Or again, and won the world cup aged 25.
Since 2002 his career has been further plagued by injuries, with memorable moments and flashes of the "old" Ronaldo sprinkled in.
He retired very fat, having lost all the physical attributes he once had (speed, explosiveness) and was getting by with just his skill and killer instinct.
