After getting beaten up while in top position, Jake Shields attempted to lnp Palhares too fiercely and paid for it with an accidental eye gouge. If he wouldnt have tried to lnp so hard this wouldn't have happened. He literally attempted zero strikes from top position.

Then after getting wrecked on the feet he immediately tapped to a Kimura without even attempting to fight it. No doubt Palhares thought it was Shields flailing about fighting the submission when Mazzagatti and Shields were tapping on his back. I blame Mazzagatti for that though he should have been on the other side to stop it easier.

Either way Shields is at least 60% responsible for Palhares' actions.

Also I think that punch after the bell was the first strike Shields threw on the ground all night

I kind of thought the same thing. Guys are tapping to his shit really fast and he doesn't expect it.

Nah, he landed 10 open-hand strikes to Palhares' ass just before.

I think the ref just needs a taser when Palhares fights. It would be so much easier.
