You misunderstand the position of most vegans, and the philosophy behind veganism. It is a lifestyle choice to reduce animal suffering as much as is realistically possible. In any situation where my survival is on the line, I have no problem consuming animal products. Prison, post nuclear apocalypse, etc etc. I will eat animals and animal products to survive if I must and I would imagine that is the position of 99% of vegans.

In any situation where my survival is on the line, I have no problem consuming animal products. Prison, post nuclear apocalypse, etc etc. I will eat animals and animal products to survive if I must and I would imagine that is the position of 99% of vegans.

I have been to prison in 97. I did a little over 2 years HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire. Back then we didn''t hear much about the vegans. I member there were Islamic/Sikh food choices for some.

Before you fuckers ask - Can confirm did not toss any salads.

This is the correct answer.

Being vegan is about avoiding causing harm as far as is practicable by the individual. Veganism doesn't implore people to starve to death if it can be avoided with animal products. It doesn't implore people to go without necessary medications because they were tested on animals or otherwise contain animal products.

It's simply about doing the least amount of harm that you, as an individual, can.

In American prisons/jails you can request vegetarian meals
I dont know exactly what vegan is but they wont have to eat animals at least
