NOTE to NON-MEMBERS: Confused about what the fuck's going on in here? See the following threads:

All right, guys. I know we've had a lot of posts that have required you to DO THINGS: sign up, vote on movies, vote on procedures, discuss shit ad nauseum, but this should be the last one until next week. I appreciate everyone who has come on board and who has contributed.
All right, so while the voting isn't officially over yet when it comes to selecting our process for picking movies each week, just based on the votes that have come in so far it looks like the LEAVE IT THE WAY IT IS (i.e. rotate through the members, one week at a time method) is what's up.
As the first member, I'm going to handle it this week. Next week it will go to @Forum Sentinal , then @europe1, etc.
I considered a lot of different ideas and themes, but in the end I just picked five movies that I had a feeling MOST of our members probably hadn't seen. (@europe1 notwithstanding. He watches movies 24/7. He's seen everything.)
So without further adieu. . .
Victoria (2015)
Director: Sebastian Schipper
Stars: No one you've ever heard of
Premise: Not fucking telling you!
Why I Picked It: Okay, here's the deal: This is one of those movies that is best watched blind, i.e. going into it knowing nothing about it. The only thing I'll tell you is that the whole movie is shot in ONE SINGLE TAKE. No cuts. No editing of any kind. The whole movie, start to finish, is one long continuous take. It's a German film, and the dialogue is a mix of English and German, so you have to be prepared to deal with some subtitles. I guess I need to disclaim that. But it's a good movie. If this idea of ONE TAKE is enough to sell you, then just vote. Don't watch the trailer. But if you're curious but not totally sold, okay, I get it, go ahead and check out the trailer and see what you think. (P.S. This one's on Netflix.)
Trailer:
Talk Radio (1988)
Director: Oliver Stone
Stars: Eric Bogosian, Alec Baldwin, John C. McGinley
Why I Picked It: It's Oliver Stone's lost masterpiece. Everyone talks about Platoon, JFK, Wall Street, etc. But you never heard a word about Talk Radio. This old ass trailer probably doesn't do it justice, but if you like Oliver Stone, this is a good pick.
Trailer:
Way of the Gun (2000)
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Stars: Benicio Del Toro, Ryan Phillipe, Juliette Lewis, James Caan, Taye Diggs, Nicky Katt, Geoffrey Lewis
Premise: Two criminal drifters without sympathy get more than they bargained for after kidnapping and holding for ransom the surrogate mother of a powerful and shady man.
Why I Picked It: I've loved this movie ever since I first saw it back in 2000. It's a great crime film that's perfectly acted, and is also the movie where Ryan Phillipe (who I've always thought was a little underrated) becomes a man. He put on 25 pounds just to prove to Chris McQuarrie that he could play the role. If you like crime movies, and you haven't seen this one, you really are missing out.
In lieu of the trailer I'm going to link to the opening scene, which just might be the most hilariously awesome opening scene in cinema:
Six Degrees of Separation (1993)
Director: Fred Schepisi
Stars: Will Smith, Stockard Channing, Donald Sutherland, Ian McKellan
Premise: An affluent New York couple find their lives touched, intruded upon, and compelled by a mysterious young black man who is never quite who he says he is.
Why I Picked It: This is decidedly lighter fare than any of the above, but it's a great film. Perhaps just as importantly, it was not only Will Smith's first major film role, but also his BEST film role. The script really challenged him, which is something that he rarely allows to happen anymore.
Trailer:
This is Spinal Tap (1984)
Director: Rob Reiner
Stars: Christopher Guest, Michael McKean
Premise: Spinal Tap, one of England's loudest bands, is chronicled by film director Marty DeBergi on what proves to be a fateful tour.
Why I Picked It: Of all the films on this list, my guess is this is probably the one that more people have seen. It's the king of mockumentaries! If you're looking for some funny shit, this is the one. You'll also get a very interesting look at Better Call Saul star Michael McKean much earlier on in his career.
I couldn't find a good trailer so I'm going with this:
UPDATE: Victoria Wins!
I have to say, it's with a good amount of surprise that I announce VICTORIA as our winner. For a variety of reasons (no-name director, no known stars, subtitles, etc) I questioned its chances but it's our movie and it wasn't even that close of a race.
The final tally, adjusted for non-member votes, is as follows:
Victoria: 13
Talk Radio: 3
Way of the Gun: 5
Six Degrees of Separation: 2
This is Spinal Tap: 6
29 out of 45 members voted in this poll.
Second, like I said in the OP, it's best to go into Victoria knowing nothing about the movie. But I do want to say that it's like two films in one. Some peope I've talked to prefer the first part, while some prefer the second. So I'm curious to hear the feedback on this. But if the movie seems to start out slowly, just be patient.
Lastly, I'd just like to say to pay particular attention to the fact that THERE ARE NO CUTS IN THE FILM! The whole movie is one continuous take.

A FEW QUICK THOUGHTS ON VICTORIA
First, a practical matter: Make sure English subtitles are turned on. If you're watching on Netflix, I don't think they're on by default. Most of the movie is in English, but some is in German and you're going to want to know what they're saying.
