He cleaned out the HW division before he got a title shot and the belt. Cain just hasn't fought enough fights or had enough different opponents to be ahead of JDS.
I understand that JDS has a great resume, like I said I'm a big JDS fan but in my opinion you can tell who the better fighter is by competing against each other and sadly for me Cain vs JDS 2 and 3 answered the question as to who is better very emphatically.He cleaned out the HW division before he got a title shot and the belt. We aren't talking about who is better head to head, we are comparing resumes. Cain beat Big Nog but Nog clearly ranks higher.
It doesn't say top 5 HW resume, its says top 5 HW. I don't base who I believe to be the best solely on who has a better record. Your example of Cain vs Big Nog is a little skewed as Nog was past his prime and Cain was in his where as when Cain and JDS fought they were both in their primes

JDS has a far better resume. Cain might be the best HW fighter ever sadly injuries have pretty much killed any hopes he has at being the HW GOAT.
Super lackluster resume and was never #1. The 5 above him had the top spot and 3 of them also have wins over him.
