With 2 back to back KO wins at 147 a months ago

I think it would be smart for Haymon to make him fight Danny Garcia on the July Fox card, for viewers sake.

Former three-division world champion Shane Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KOs), 44, who ended a nearly two-year layoff with two wins in 2015, announced that Hall of Famer Roberto Duran will train him for his next bout, which Mosley claimed will be for a world title, although he did not identify the opponent.

I doubt Shane can still make it to 147.

Lol! Na, Danny can fight someone his age. You know, a relevant fighter who people have actually voiced an interest in seeing in the ring with Danny.

Anyone calling for a Mosley vs Garcia fight is either an idiot or a jackass. That would be the equivalent of pulling Morales out of his retirement home so Garcia can knock his ass out again. Actually it would be worse since Morales can still speak like a non-brain damaged human and Mosley cannot. I guess the upside would be that no one can say "Mosley never even got hit hard" anymore.

Would be a good way to build his name though through casuals.

How come? People know who Shane Mosley is, not a lot of people know Danny Garcia. Would be a good way to get "over" persay.

I think whatever small gain he'd get from a few casuals who recognize the "Shane Mosley" name would be completely overshadowed by all the negative backlash he'd get from both boxing media and fans alike. Not worth it at all.

I don't think anybody cares who Mosley fights anymore and they haven't cared for many years. So fighting Mosley does absolutely nothing for Garcia.

I think it's a myth that beating up old guys that nobody cares about anymore is at all beneficial. What did Garcia gain by beating Malignaggi and Guerrero? I would argue nothing at all, and furthermore, I'd argue that he actually lost respect.

Would it help Luke Rockhold's career to fight Ken Shamrock? No.

It was a negative for plenty of guys like Larry Holmes, Terry Norris, William Joppy, and many others who beat guys with much bigger name values than Mosley. The focus always becomes on how inept these old stars look in the ring and the sympathy they're shown in defeat. There's no rub for the victor.

I wouldn't compare it to Rockhold fighting Shamrock, maybe Rockhold fighting Silva though which would immensely help his star and profile. I think getting over against older names is a real thing, it has worked in mma and pro wrestling, not sure why it wouldn't in boxing.

Mosley is 2 years past being totally shot. He slurs his speech badly and has trouble pulling the trigger on his punches. He is a sideshow attraction at this point and that is why he fights guys like Mayorga on bogus ppv's. I am not hating on him at all. It is what it is. Loved watching his fights and always rooted for him but he's going to get himself killed before he ever gives up. The fact he recently un-retired and is being trained by Roberto Duran is just sad.

Danny Garcia is a well established championship caliber fighter with an impressive resume so adding a shot Mosley to the list would do nothing for him. If anything it would just add to all the questions we already ask about why he doesn't want to fight anyone decent anymore.

I'm certainly concerned about Mosley and his health. I think people are overrating the combat sports intelligence of casual fans though. To them beating someone like Mosley would likely mean something. Hell, casuals thought Ronda beating Bethe Correira meant something.

Silva? I don't know which you mean, but all 3 old Silvas have more left than Mosley.

Mosley is old, shot, and punch drunk. He is a truly pitiable figure. No way punching him in the head would help anybody's career.

I would like to see him retire, don't like guys who are clearly compromised keep taking punishment. Does he have money problems?

I hope not, but it's likely. Other posters here know way more about the personal lives of fighters. I have not been on the forum long enough to know that kind of thing, I never paid any attention to it. People say he had a bad ex-wife, not sure if she took some money.

I get what you're saying but the big knock on Garcia is that he fought GREAT opponents then went back to fighting mediocre guys and no one really knows why. So Mosley does literally nothing to change that.

Look at his string of wins from awhile ago. He beat Nate Campbell, Kendall Holt, Erik Morales twice, Zab Judah and Lucas Matthysse pretty much all in a row. Then he took a fight people thought was a big step down against Herrera and he looked like shit. Tons of people think he should have lost that fight. Since then 3 of his last 4 fights were against guys that don't even come close to the level of competition he had beaten before. He needs to step up and fight someone good like he used to. Not take a step down from the lackluster opponents he is already stringing together.

Like maybe that guy Keith Thurman, or say, that dude Shawn Porter? Whoever wins that one? Maybe Adrien Broner? Maybe Kell Brook?

Who the heck wants to see Shane Mosley get slaughtered by a prime fighter yet again? Wasn't the beating Canelo gave him enough?
