HOUSTON, Texas — An “active shooter” injured “several” people in Houston before being shot by area police near a shopping center Monday morning, officials say.

The Houston Police Department responded to an “active shooter situation” at a shopping center near Weslayan and Bissonnet streets, according to an emergency alert sent by the city at 8:12 a.m.

“At this time, the shooting scene is believed to be contained,” the alert stated.

Area residents were still asked to “please avoid the area … as it is still an active response and investigation scene.”

Houston police retweeted the alert, and within 20 minutes confirmed an “active shooter” had been shot.

“Several” people were injured by the shooter, and have been transported to an area hospital in unknown condition, police tweeted.

Local media reported seven people may have been injured during the incident, but Houston police say the number of people injured remains unclear.

Police do not believe there are any outstanding shooters.

America is becoming more and more like Sweden
In many ways yes but they must unleash the Swedish national sport, grenade throwing. They have a lot to catch up to do when it comes to that sport.

What kind of odds can I get on an Icelander?

ABC13 reported:

At around 6:30 this morning, HFD scanners reported a suspect was at a strip center firing upon vehicles. The suspect was described as a black male with a revolver.

“We received a call at 6:29 that we had a shooting at the Petco store…the first units were directed to the parking lot where the shooting was still active,” HFD’s Jay Evans says.

“We now have approximately 20 EMS personnel vehicles on scene. We do not know, we do not have a count at this time as to how many people have been shot, but all of the people will be directed to local hospitals in the area that are going to be victims.”

Emergency vehicles flooded the area around the strip center bordered by Weslayan, Bissonnet and Law Street.

Officers concentrated much of their focus during the shooting on an apartment complex on nearby Law Street, located behind the strip center.

HFD officials reported on radio the suspect was seen behind some trees as he opened fire on vehicles in the area.

Our Eyewitness News crew saw firefighters and officers running up and down the street as the gunfire continued.

From the air, Don Armstrong reported seeing bodies on the ground as officers worked to bring the active shooter situation to an end.

They shot the suspect?

Please, oh please, don't let him be black.

Good grief. These crazy people who think they need to take others with them when they want to check out . . . just do us all a favor and drive out into the woods and off yourself there if you really feel the need to do so.
