Hey guys, so I'm in a heated debate with some guy on here who thinks that if Miesha got a push from the UFC that she would sell more PPVs than Ronda & Conor despite being a boring fighter.

Said guy also thinks that the UFC can make anybody they want into a Ronda Rousey as long as they just give them a bit of hype, so I asked why not do it to every fighter and just make millions off everybody then? He had no answer.

Basically the guy thinks that people will pay $65 to watch Miesha fight just because she's hotter than Rousey.

Does everybody else agree that Ronda destroying girls in 1 minute helped her PPV sales immensely as opposed to just everlasting hype? Obviously the hype helped to get eyes on her but performances where she submitted Zingano in just 14 seconds who (T)KO'd Tate is pretty damn impressive to the average casual fan.


I'm not saying Miesha isn't a popular fighter, my argument is that she'll never sell Ronda or Conor numbers because she doesn't have their fighting style, charisma or outspoken personality.

Does anybody actually think that Tate could even sell as much as Rondas worst PPV headliner let alone her best?

Miesha's record, and the fact she lost to Ronda twice would make it impossible, imo. She would never be as big a PPV draw. She isn't one of a kind, or special in any way. Unless having phoney boobs counts for something.

I like her, but I'm a realist.

Some people just don't know what they're talking about. I had a co-worker try and argue with me that it was dumb for the crowd to chant USA! For Nate Diaz because he was from Spain and didn't speak a word of English, than he claimed to be a bigger UFC fan than me so I should listen

I don't know if meisha can get there. But someone like cyborg could if she learned how to speak English. And although they couldn't make anyone a star. They could make a lot of guys/girls stars with the proper push.
 
The person you're debating with isn't all that knowledgeable.

The things about ronda that are hyped is her crazy record of finishes with a patented technique (her armbar)

yes, you can market fighters and promote them, but ronda has a higher level of what's called "marketability"

this isn't wrestling where stories are simply written. what your friend suggests is a fighters marketability is determined by the promoter, in which case your friend is wrong.

Didn't Ronda already do it against Holly? I'm not sure what you mean by 'by herself' since nobody fights a broom with no other fights on the card.

He means try selling 1 million buys off any other womans name if Ronda isn't included, e.g Tate vs. Nunes.
