Seth MacFarlane's THE ORVILLE (Season 3 Coming to Hulu)

Pretty good episode centered on Alara. Does anyone know if she will be back? The actress that plays her is smoking hot

Apparently she is filming a show on Netflix. Hopefully she will be back, loved her character and Halston Sage is a total knockout.

It drives me crazy when they ignore the effects of things like this, but it makes me appreciate it when they get it right.

ST TNG almost got it right with Picard in The Inner Light; it showed that his imagined lifetime was a part of him, but never with any real depth.

DS9 got it completely right, in my opinion, with Chief O'Brien. After serving a twenty year simulated prison sentence, his character was changed for the rest of the series.

I'm not impressed at all with The Orville. It's moderately entertaining, but it feels like fluffy fan fiction. We've seen pretty much all the stories they're doing, and the acting on this show is the absolute worst. People are saying this show is doing Star Trek better than Star Trek, and I could not disagree more. It's a space comedy that is a complete ripoff of the Star Trek shell, and in that light, it's fun, but it's a stunningly mediocre science fiction show if you want to compare it to actual Trek.

Seth even likes shitting on things he likes.. Like cosmos and star trek. The cosmos one wasn't intentional, but there has never been a more unnecessary reboot. That failed.

It literally is fan fiction, its seth doing star trek, the premise was a spoof so they could get away with copyright infringement but the storylines are way too serious, its seth writing star trek with a few jokes

Really enjoyed season 1 of the show. Good cast and Seth is a pretty damn good lead. Gonna watch the new episode later tonight.

Watched an episode last night. Robert Picardo, John Billingsley, awesome.

Orville is what Discovery should have been: fucking STAR TREK.
Good on McFarlane.

ill just move my post here
Alara really left? Its kinda p1ssing me off with these actresses not knowing how good they have it with a show like this, thinking theyre the next Julia Roberts. And then 99% of them beg to come back on the show when theyre doing nothing but lifetime 3rd cousin roles in 2 years. Its bloody 2 seasons and she already thinks shes all that.... :/
yeah,it kinda angers me :). Because its irresponsible from her, Star Trek builds on character development and stuff like this has tp start a new character from beginning.

And it was a joy seeing so many ST faces. Especially Picardo and then Phlox . And I couldnt put my finger on it with the elephant man but it was Patrick Warburton :)

If they keep him on the show for a while instead of Alara, I'm ok With that

I immediately recognized Warburton's voice. I thought I recognized Alara's mother but couldn't place her right away. I finally figured out it was Molly Hagan from Herman's head. I can't blame Halston Sage for taking on another project. Being on a Fox show has as much uncertainty as being in Donald Trump's cabinet. They didn't know if there would even be a second season. They left it open for her to return.

I think I saw that another woman from Alara's home world will be joining the Orville. Perhaps her sister?

Seth has made the show more like the original Star Trek with some moral implications in each show that mirror current social factors.

I don't think Bortus is gay. His species has no gender.

Bortus isn't exactly gay per se but his species does have gender. It's just that all the females are turned into males at some point (kind of like their version of circumcision I guess). There was an episode about this last season. That was the beef between Bortus and Cletus and what started him down the path of porn addiction in the first place.

I think they really wimped out though. I would have liked to see the show really go for it and have Bortus put more and more depraved scenarios into the simulator. The illicit "tape" he gets (with the virus on it) still seems pretty tame, really.

Without showing the effects and progression of the addiction, then this really isn't that much different from some STTNG episodes.

great show it actually got me to sign up for hulu.

Shes booked a few movie and netflix series. There's also tons of rumors that Seth banged her, causing tension among the cast.

Loved the first episode. One of my favorite of the series so far. Last week was weak.

This one was feeble with logistics, but felt as pure Star Trek as just about any episode I've ever seen. Warburton killed me with his comedic timing delivering the line, "Pound it", when talking about how his species eats foods, but I was really annoyed by that character because he was nothing more than a reskinned carbon copy of the recurring support character "Dann" who went on a date with Alaura. I realize Seth is bound to the concept of the show as a comedy, so he's trying to wedge in some comic relief, but the bro gimmick is repetitive, and I'm getting a bit sick of how many male side characters are presented as immature, unprofessional, oversexed preadolescents. It's beginning to border on sexist, and it's not good for the boys who are watching. These are terrible masculine role models.

Gordon and Lamarr are main cast members who you could slot in with the cast of Goonies, and would probably still bring up the rear if you ranked that cast in a line from most to least mature. Norm McDonald's male voice is lent to the alien Yaphit whose entire character portrait so far is that he doesn't understand boundaries. There is the aforementioned Dann. Then there is Steve Newton on the engineering deck. Now we get Warburton's appearance. These characters stand in contrast to Alaura and the Doctor (or cameos from Admiral Ozawa, for example, who has gotten more screen time than anyone else from the Union's high command). Seth himself as the Captain is a much more suitable character, but even manages to come off less composed than his lover, inferior officer, and foil: First Commander Grayson.

It makes me grateful for Bortis, and it's why I was really pleased with Cassius, and his interesting relationship to the Captain.

Generally, I don't mind that Seth is a genuine nerd boy of the 80's, like myself, and is paying homage to our love of robots, lasers, toilet humor, and so on, but I'd like to see a bit more balance in the maturity levels between the men and women on this show.

BTW, did anyone else notice they changed Alaura's make-up from the first season?

She used to have a wider, less aesthetically pleasing nose. I guess they figured it was getting in the way of her hotness. Needed to give Alaura a stealth nose job.

Interesting episode. I hope that Krill lady isn’t Cpt Mercer’s new love interest. That would be weird. This episode had a little more humor with Gordon wanting to take the Captains test. I’d like to see Bortus making more humorous remarks like he did about Gordon failing his test.

season 1 was good. Season two is lame. Stopped watching.

First two episodes were rather weak. Get off the ship, and start exploring. Or shit, just some outside conflict would be nice. Quit treading familiar ground with the crew members. I'm familiar with their traits and various backgrounds. Now work that shit into something entertaining. I'm not watching it for "Days Of Our Space Lives". Get out there already.

Intense episode and a weak ending. This episode was very similar to the first season episode where they land on the planet where everyone votes for each other and LaMarr gets all those down votes. I like the concept of being judged based on your astrological sign. I think McFarlane does these types of episodes because it kinda shows the difference in cultures. Imagine when our ancestors where discovering different cultures for the first time. Some cultures are just set in their ways. Also, I think the episode was a slight dig at religion, which McFarlane hates. Anyways, the ending was resolved too fast and felt rushed. But other than that, pretty good episode.

Looks like McFarlane has another young actress to bang. lol
