CM Punk with all modern MMA training vs. UFC 1 fighters: could he win it?

I think he would at least make it past the first round, and has at least a small chance of winning the whole tournament. Ken Shamrock would be his toughest opponent, but I think Punk's BJJ would allow him to get the submission, just like Royce did.

When Royce fought Hughes, Joe Riggs said he (Riggs) would have won UFC 1. He and anyone else at least as big and skilled as him. Because of modern training.

Man, some of you guys are letting your hate of CM Punk cloud your judgment. Yeah, Royce could maybe beat him, but a HS wrestler?? Come on. This guy trains at an elite MMA gym and has experience fighting/sparring actual modern day MMA fighters. Unless the wrestler is huge or also has MMA training, Punk isn't gonna lose.

I don’t know, Art was a Golden Gloves Champion with over 50 professional boxing matches. Granted he was 33-18, but I would still say he could probably have beaten old Phil Brooks...
