I don't think all this technology is good for us man.

I'm having a hard time remembering things lately.

I'm talking short term. Like what did I walk into this room for before I got distracted by xyz etc...?

The internet and various forms of media in general have fucked with my attention span. It can be remedied with reading books, writing, physical exercise and other things that require you to engage in problem solving with multiple variables you have to keep track of.

If you're over 40, it's pretty normal. As long as you aren't forgetting to turn the stove off and you can remember where you live, you're aiight. Whatever you are forgetting likely isn't a priority.

Are you not remembering things or simply not being attentive? There's a difference there. If you're not paying attention or are easily distracted you need to improve your focus. There are ways to do that, reading for example helped me a lot. Get a book and start reading. Silence your cellphone and disconnect from the world. If you need music make sure it's instrumental only, otherwise it will distract you.

I'm not really sure what to do if you're really having memory issues but I'm sure exercising your brain doing math, puzzles or games like sudoku won't hurt and might as well make it better.

My memory used to be amazing.

In fact, it's how I made my living.

My company has so many complex jobs and procedures that nobody could remember them all, so they paid a group of us to just walk around and help people who forgot how to do something specific.

But then I got a higher paying job doing the work of several people, and it's so overwhelming that my brain is just constantly fried and I can't remember shit now.

It's like the running joke at my office. People will have a conversation with me and then 20 minutes later they come back to ask a follow up question, and I completely forgot that we ever spoke. They have to spend a few seconds refreshing my memory on what we just talked about 20 minutes ago.
