Is it a one time thing? Or if the UFC going to give it a shot?

They're giving it a shot from what I can see. This is basically how strawweight started. They just need to sign more fighters and get more from the other divisions to change divisions.

Well half of the division just abandoned it, so that's not a good start.

sounds like a terrible plan

WMMA is shallow as it is

UFC's plan is just going to make the other 2 divisions even worse

It's obviously an experiment prior to possibly starting a new division. Otherwise why bother? Calderwood and Letourneau don't warrant a one-off fight outside the 115-lb division.

The division is not official. Not yet at least.

So far, this fight was a one-off. But I expect to see more.

If I had to guess I'd say a decent number of those women want to fight at 125 but are too big/too small for their division. Plus they can poach from Invicta. I don't think it'll be too big of a deal.

I don't know if they necessarily need more talent. There are a ton of women to small to be 135 and to big to be 115.

Jojo looked good at 125. Making 115 isn't easy and women in general have a much harder time cutting weight. So maybe 125 is here to stay?

They should make the 25 divison the drop is to much so u have undersized women at 135 or women near death at 115.

I think Joanna would move up as she used to be a 125er before the ufc.And i think zingano may of been a 25er before the ufc as well.I know eye was a 25er and the bellator champ there

Serious question... How many flies does it take to weigh 125 pounds???

Also, we should take into account whether they are female or male flies.

I don't think Joanna needs to move up. She looks like a legit 115. Even when hydrated she doesn't look huge like Ronda when she walks around at like 150 ( probably 160+).

But there are a ton of women who can benefit from fighting at 125. Rin Nakai IMO really would be awesome at 125.

After this fight I think they will try to book more womens flyweight fights

UFC won't do it because the champion of fly-weight is not very 'marketable'

I honestly cannot fathom watching 115 lbs women fight. It blows my mind they are adding another division. I respect female athletes but I'll never watch the WNBA, and I'll never watch WMMA.

The more it gets peppered in the more I'm forced to subsidize something I don't want to pay for.

In a perfect world they would spin it out into its own promotion - I'd gladly give up a PPV every third month so we can keep the divisions parsed, everyone gets what they want this way.

Have you even seen Joanna fight? She's a better striker than most men in the UFC.
