You've probably heard of her unless you've been living under a rock. In amateur boxing, she's now a 2x Olympic gold medalist, 2x World champion, Val Barker trophy recipient, and she won the Pan American Games as well. She's only 21 years old, 5'10 and fights as a Middleweight. She also thinks that Ireland's Michael Conlan is "a gangster" for his post-fight antics at the Games in Rio this year.

These two met and goofed around a bit, even though she views him as a sexist (remember, he's also viewed by some as a racist) but likes him. Strange how that works. Kovalev doesn't approve of women fighting (neither does Fedor) but recognizes her achievements and wishes her good luck and says she's the best. Oh, she's friends with Andre Ward. Andre Dirrell too. Both Dre's.

This is the interesting vid (where the sexism comes out). Kovalev says that they don't approve of women fighting in Russia and Claressa says, "WHAT?!" and pretends like she's going to punch him after saying she's beaten up men bigger than him lol. Enjoy.

Kovalev shoulda slapped that guy trying to instigate smh

You want them to absorb don't you? To fuse the endless resistance of the yin and the yang to the rare form of a new idea to feed the masses. Express what is inside you Mr Bag let it flow out of your orifice.

Sergey isn't gangster enough for her though. She called herself a gangster after calling Ireland's Michael Conlan one, establishing common ground between them as peers (despite being from rival nations). Read between the lines, Mr. senri. She wants to assimilate and procreate with the Celt more so than the Slav. If it worked for Andre Ward then it can work for Conlan and Shields. Think of the children.

You folks and your sex talk, i was alluding to no such thing. You know all too well by now Mr Bag, that much can be established between the convergence of the two entities you share interest in. Allow it to flow.

"unless you've been living under a rock." Yeah, Claressa Shields is a name that I hear all the time .

Anyway, what's she's done is remarkable. Good for Kovalev for meeting her? Sort of a weird pairing.

That's it.

Yeah Claressa Shields is less than a household name even with boxing fans. I've heard of her but not exactly a face I'd recognize on the street or something. Very impressive accomplishments though. I doubt it's sexist to say that if you're Russian, same with him and the racist stuff, except this isn't as big of a deal imo.

In the words of Two Ton Toney when asked about Joe Louis "Neva hoyda da bum"
21 and she has all that? No point in staying, move to MMA or something, she's got alot of time to adapt.

I hated it when Kovalev said that about all the money put in russia(like all slav and stan contries) in ammies, but nothing for pros.

She's also been on television a lot and had lots of exposure since winning her second consecutive Olympic gold medal. I hardly ever watch television but she's been getting a bunch of media attention on the web and the tube for what she was able to do. Though, you can't really compare what she's accomplished to her male counterparts because this was only the second Olympics women have been allowed to box at, so the talent pool isn't nearly as deep. But, you also can't blame her for that or for Olympic women's boxing having too few divisions to comfortably accommodate them all.

Shields is definitely a pioneer for women worldwide and has a chance to become a triple Olympic gold medalist (only 3 exist, all are men) if she stays an amateur and doesn't turn pro within the next 4 years.

Yeah, only 21 and she's already a double world, double Olympic champ and Val Barker trophy recipient for being voted the "best" (most stylish) female boxer at the Rio Games this year (her and Hasanboy Dusmatov both were awarded the Val Barker trophy & both won gold). She's now joined the men as the only female on the list.

I don't see her going to MMA, but who knows. She either stays an amateur and tries for a triple feat at the Olympics or turns pro in boxing. Right now she says she's undecided.

If I didn't follow boxing I wouldn't have known about her. I don't read ESPN magazine or watch traditional tv either so there ya go. Still, she's not exactly a household name and in a conversation with someone I wouldn't think twice of it if they didn't know who she was.

Agreed about her becoming a triple medalist. If she stays amateur for another 4 years that's probably her future. She's still plenty young and should continue to improve.
