alright at my shitty school we have to do a senior project. I am doing a self-defense vid for the presentation, and a binder of techniques applicable to a self defense situation..sadly no flying armbars. Ive been training in bjj for two months, and MMA for two also. I have some ideas, but i was hoping someone could help me out with the order, or techniques.

defense against RNC
defense again simple wrist grabs (wrist escapes and wrist folds as counterattacks)
defense against bear hugs (Both front and back)
mounted escape
sweeping from guard

usually armbars and kimuras and such are too complicated for ppl to appreciate.

Basically, you need to go from a progression of normal "harassment" defense. Self defense to too broad and most ppl only truly initially appreciate harassment defense. They way i've always given seminars and in services is this:

1. keep lose
2. defense against wrist/arm grabs = wrist escape (possibly teach wrist locks)
3. defense against getting your arms crossed
4. defense against rear bear hug (more common)
5. defense getting simply picked up
6. mounted escape
7. sweeping from guard
8. i also teach everyone the RNC and the principle of counter-intuitive thought and action in situations of true self defense. ie. don't just go in a blaze. evaluate your situation. then act. most ppl just let that adrenal dump and sympathetic animal take over.
9. SOMETIMES i teach armbar... but its a rough one. you can show it. but eh. maybe part2 of the seminar.

i think thats enugh for now yea? tell me if u need anything else.

oh i usually teach ppl simple front kick to take out shins, knees, and groin.
elbow, fingers in eyes or throat. you know the typical stuff.

Thanks man i should be able to do that. I also thought it would be a good idea to show taking on a larger opponent. As in how to tie them up in your guard so they cannot hit you.

Go out and buy "Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Theory and Technique" by Royler and Renzo Gracie. Go through the book and pick out the self defense moves that you want to use. I would start with the simpler ones like the defense to a two handed throat grab(duck out of it), then move on to the throws and the ones that move into submission. If you train then you should have this book anyway, so dont look at it as youre having to spend money just for the project. It will be a good reference down the road.

recreate shot for shot Bas Rutten's bouncer technique video.

That or do a different video.
