The only time I ever seen that fucking mcdojo self defense shit be practical was when I saw whatever that BMF version of Israeli operators are pull some gun-fu on resisting opponents

Literally every other instance of this kinda shit I've ever seen is just fantasy

Don't think he's a cop. Other footage I've seen from him has him as some security officer. He never shows any other badge besides his DUST badge.

He shouldn't be teaching cops anything though. All his techniques is only good for spoofs and skits. Actually he shouldn't be teaching anyone how to fight or how to fight vs people with guns. Anyone that really knows anything about self defense understands you fight weapons with weapons. Yes bare handed stuff is the last resort, but nothing he does will work. He doesn't even know how to do real takedowns or how to actually control limbs and clinch. The wrist lock he tried on Strickland proves that. He doesn't have any real full contact or real fight experience. He's like that DK guy that PAC fought, but with toy guns. He would get killed easily in any real combat situation. He's what they would call canon fodder.

Gun-fu works and is legit. But this guy doesn't know any legit gun-fu. You can disaram weapons from people but the stuff this DUST guy shows is not realistic at all vs people that are actually resisting and not doing exactly what they are supposed to do in the demo. Real life would be more chaotic just like real grappling exchanges. Need to control the body and limbs just like in grappling. Wrist control and grip strength will be very important. 2 on 1 would be also very important for something like that and you never see the DUST guy do any of that. He does McDojo wristlocks and armbars and uses that as his takedowns as well. He's clueless and would go into mental and physical shock in an actual real situation.

There's more realistic training, people actually grappling and fighting while fighting over a gun on the floor or trying to draw your weapon and prevent someone from drawing a weapon while doing everything full contact with no rehearsed movements. That's more realistic for real life situations. Not the stuff DUST does. It's just like fighting, the best way to train it is by training as close to possible as the real thing. That's why sparring is the most important thing when it comes to fighting. That's where you put things together during full contact and no rehearsed movements. If you only train techniques, you'll only be good at doing techinques given those specific situations and with your partner doing the exact movements needed for the demo. It won't transfer over into real combat skills without training for real combat situations.
