Seems like Overeem fails to understand what his weakness is...

Overeem has again completely changed changed his training set up after the loss to Brown (he did a similar thing after the loss to Bigfoot).

This sounds positive but after watching these programs I sit with the impression that he's just making the same mistakes again: he has again handpicked his trainers/sparring partners, they all seem to be quite a bit smaller than him and not really UFC quality and again there's no mention of cardio or striking defense. His offensive skills have never really been the issue but it doesnt seem like he realises he has a cardio/defense problem!

At least he has finally got rid of Roberto Flamingo who almost seemed like a bad luck omen recently

he was dominating bigfoot pretty handidly and almost stopped Travis Browne, I think hes doing pretty well for himself.

dont you worry, people will be on the hype train once again after he retires Frank Mir.

He's been training in Thailand and dropped a lot of weight, that should help his cardio. If he does what he did in his last 2 fights against Mir he'll be fine, the issue is the one after

He dominates everyone he fights for the first 3 minutes, it's what happens after that that matters. I think TS is right to an extent, a camp focusing on tactics like jackson would be better. He's got great GnP, he should try takedowns and look for guillotines more.

He hasn't won a fight in over two years.

I agree that he will beat Mir, but the hypetrain will only last until he gets JDS in his next fight and gets KTFO again.

lol people underrate the role of genetics when it comes to cardio. He can train cardio all he wants it still won't do much unless he shreds those massive amount of muscles. Even then, there's no telling if he will do any better.

Even if it's the same Reem as the past 2 fights, his usual 3 min onslaught should be more than enough to put Mir away.

First time he entered UFC that I'm dropping vcash on him. He should be able to win Mir. Shouldn't care about the fight that might be coming next. Think about the one that is signed.

He will probably smash poor Mir. But his hype train will probably bring doom to him,
since UFC will probably make a dream match JDS vs Overeem next.

Watching him in the lead up to 169, he looks considerably better (shape-wise) then when he fought bigfoot or travis. It does look like he's lost a bit of weight which may be the be the most significant factor. For the most part, I agree with TS, his cardio is shit, he is the most dangerous man in the world for 3.2 minutes, after that, set a clock and wait for him to lose. It's really disappointing because I am a big fan. He really should just join a good camp and leave his former trainers/training partners behind, ATT, AKA, Jacksons, any would be good for him, although with the heavyweights within those camps, some who he has already clashed with idk if he could get in there. He could always try tri-star or maybe even Matt Hume could be a good direction. He needs to pick his shots more instead of trying to murder people. If he waited and hurt guys like he often does, then wait and pick his shots, no doubt he could stop them without draining himself. We will see, I feel like I'm the only one not counting Mir out.

This is one of the most intelligent posts I have seen in a while regarding Overeem's cardio.

Yep, but those 3 minutes ought to be enough against Mir. No way does Mir have the same resilience as Browne or even Bigfoot.

How can you say he is the most dangerous man the first 3 minutes or so if he cant finish his opponents inside that time? The only name opponent who lost against him that early is Lesnar.

Reem has massive flaws in his game that won't ever be fixed, but if he hands Mir his 4th consecutive loss people will be all over the idea of him being a champion again.

Mir has done nothing but fold in the clinch so is pretty tailor made to get Overeem back on track.

Change of attitude is what reem needs the most in my opinion. It's not even that his defence needs work it's that he didn't bother to defend against Bigfoot at all really. Ego/wanting to show off, just stupidity on his part.

Cardio has been a weakness too so hopefully he has improved on that though.
