We drilled arm drag to standard butterfly guard sweep.

We did a two rounds of guard passing from butterfly guard and four or five rounds of live rolling.

After class I rolled for a few rounds with a crazy purple belt that used his fingernails to cut my fingers so I'd release the grip on a guillotine and he wouldn't have to tap. This guy is quite the character...

Later on 11/21... the last day I posted I broke my left hand while at work.

I was out of work and the gym for about 8 weeks after the injury.

My school had belt promotions in the third week of December and I received the 4th stripe on my blue belt but no purple belt. I had made it my goal at the beginning of 2013 to make it to purple but unfortunately I fell short of that goal.

Once they took the cast off my hand I did one mesocycle of Smolov squatting since I still couldn't deadlift or bench. I haven't lifted any weights since.

About two weeks ago I did a local BJJ tournament on a whim, basically just because it was so local and convenient. I competed up a weight class and with basically no cardio. I managed to take two silver medals, losing in the finals twice to the same guy.

Here are the matches that I got on tape.

No Gi Final, Part 1

Part 2

Well it's been quite a while since I posted here.

I received my purple belt from Chris Vamos on 08/06/14. Before I got my purple belt I did a full class and then SURPRISE, I got to roll with everyone in the class back to back with no breaks. The icing on the cake was a final, 5-miunte round with Chris Moriarty, a ridiculous black belt under Jacare. I can still remember getting tossed on my head multiple times from standing and then eating knee on belly before being submitted multiple times.

I haven't been training as regularly as I used to due to my work and family schedule and I've had a few injuries at work which have knocked me out of the game as well.

On 11/03/16 I tore two ligaments in my left ankle while chasing after someone. I was basically confined to my couch for ten weeks and I've just started getting back into shape again after blowing up to 209lbs.

I'm going to start logging my cardio and weight-lifting workouts here again so I can keep track of where I'm at. Hopefully in another month or so I'll feel confident enough with my ankle that I can return to the mats again.
