See. This is what a legit HW is supposed to look like. We haven't seen this in a long time.

I've said it for a long time. Since Stipe took over, HW was just a bunch of slow, plodding strikers with no ground game and aging, worn out veterans.

Ngannou, Gane and Aspinall are as good as the HWs of old and get me excited to watch the division again.

That speed. The technique. The striking. The wrestling. The submission skill. Mixing it up. It's all there.

That's what us old heads were used to and what had been missing. Aspinall is bringing it. Ngannou has evolved to a monster. Gane is a great striker that can still improve his grappling.

HW is on the up.

I agree.

You also got the good old school bangers like Derrick Lewis and Tai
I agree with that but Tai is transitioning to a refined fighter.
He doesn't have to talent but he is veering away from the Tank Abbot and Mark Hunt stylists.

I agree, HW fighters will have to raise their standards now to survive against well rounded fighters like Aspinall.

Its because half of the HW division are either old as shit, or they are 40 pounds overweight and do better as opposed to cutting down to 205

HWs from the 1990s would be destroyed today.

HW´s from the 2000s except for a few like Arlovski, Big Nog, Werdum, Sergei, Aleks and Barnett and Sylvia were by and large just LHW´s who didnt cut water weight to make 205lbs. I.e., Cro Cop, Fedor, Randleman, Coleman, Lindland, Goodridge, Vera, Couture, Shamrock, Rizo and Horn were all in the 220lbs and 230lb range. Who would be small HWs by today´s standards or even the 2010s standards most of them were also barely 6´0 183cm or were below it and didn´t have frames that modern HW´s have.

In fact 2010s had heavier fighters pre USADA than we do now early 2010s was the days of UberBigFoot and UberReem, and Brock, Carwin and Mitrione all cutting water weight to make 265lbs and all being over 265lbs on fight night. Now a days besides Derrick Lewis, Greg Hardy (who was just cut), and Tai Tuvasa are the only ones over 265lbs and Lewis and Tai arent exactly that muscular. Back in the pre USADA days Reem, Big Foot, Carwin, Lesnar, Duffee etc were all jacked

derrick lewis is fat AF guy in shape would be 230 or 240

Aspinall will mow through everyone with ease except maybe Francis, Gane, and maybe Stipe if his chin isn't absolutely fucked yet after the wars with DC and Francis. The rest of the division will be fodder to him.

Aspinall might have a chance of being the most complete HW since Fedor

I’ve seen him fight a few times and was impressed… but wow. He made that look easy and Volkov is legit. His head movement and hand speed are unreal. Very fun to watch and I’m definitely a new fan.
